Yellow patches in Carib sea "live" sand

Is this normal? I got this sand in June and the expiry date says December 2021 so surely it should be OK

Prob some sort of bacteria that is still able to grow without much water or nutrients.
Just rinse the sand ( like you should do all sand) it will be fine
