Yellow watchman goes surfing

Surfer Steve! I love it! My Pink Streaked Wrasse likes to play in the flow from the return quite a bit. In my old tank my clowns would line up behind the flow pump and then go over the top of it, spin around and "drop in", surf a bit, then swim back around and do it again. Hilarious to watch! Now they just like to bite their rock host.

Too cute! Our clowns are idiots who just hang out with the urchin in the corner.

Steve got a pistol shrimp friend now that he’s out of the tank with the puffer!

So my yellow watchman (Steve) absolutely loves to go up to the top of the tank and surf on the current from the wave maker. It’s like his personal water slide. When the flow shuts off, he looks sad and sinks back to the bottom for normal goby activity. And once it goes on he will immediate jump up to the wave maker and ride it across the tank, swim back and do it again. The banded goby has no interest in going toward the top except for the food tweezers. (Photo of Steve being normal)

anyone else have a goby who does this?

Mine does this too but I'm not sure it's healthy or not. He only does it at night, he lost a fin to the guard covering my overflow, and refuses to pair with his shrimp.

Same exact thing, I turn the power head off, he sits on the bottom and does goby stuff, turn it on and he gets fired up. I think he likes it because copepods are more abundant in the swirl in the water column. I say that because I see him eating a lot of them while he does this.
