Just did a little fiddling around to day. I went out to Home Depot and found a small decorative shelf and mounted it in the stand. I then put 2 Kmore X1 dosing pumps that I had lying around on the shelf. I am going to use this to dose Reefpro A & B until the tanks demand warrants a Calcium Reactor.

Going to go with 2 Photon 50 “ and mount them side by side

Interested to hear how this works for you. Do you feel that one doesn’t have enough spread front to back? I have a 150 getting delivered next week. I’ve been considering going MH/led strips on an ATI 8 bulb fixture with led strips. The photon has crept in to consideration but I’d probably pair it with T5s.

Well the cycle is complete and added a light for the refugium . Started up the Aquamaxx filter roller and can immediately see what it has been pulling out of a brand new tank.

You were able to use an exotic marine overflow with holes drilled for a synergy overflow?

Yes.I went with the 20 inch overflow but the the 32 inch one also fits with no modification. the Exotic Marine are the exact same template. I also went with 1 inch drains as my sump "Trigger Triton 44 " has 1 inch bulkheads.

After much consideration and going back and fourth on the lighting I just ordered the Illumagic Blaze x-150. I decided this because I wanted a fixture that would span the whole tank easy mounting ,simple app , and can grow sps. Also something that is not mainstream in the US.
As the tank grows I am sure I will need to add supplemental lighting. I will post pictures and thoughts when the light arives

I love the acrylic legs for the light.
I was thinking about the legs but will be hanging the light.

A few weeks ago I added the first fish a Marine Betta. This guy is not shy at all except when I try to get a picture. He eats like a champ and comes running when he sees the turkey baster loaded with PE missis. I also added a few Nasarius snails to clean up any left overs that the betta leaves behind.

It has been a while for an update as we were in a holding pattern waiting on the lighting. After about 7 weeks the Ilumagic Blaze X 150 arrived. First impressions I really like it. The app took a little bit to get used to but was not hard and is responsive.
In the time that we were waiting I added a Melinarus wrasse and made a screen top to keep my buddies from carpet surfing.
I also did not like the layout of my five so I moved my Skimmer to the fuge area and made the skimmer chamber the fuge. A pleasant surprise was the tumble that this created.

Things have been moving forward. I took PAR readings from my old tank and then ajusted the new lighting to closely match . I then started to move corals over from my RedSea Reefer 250. As I started to place corals I made sure I kept a lot more space between each coral to allow for growth.Something I did not do in the other tank. I also got in a good size snail only clean up crew from Reefcleaners. Corals are looking very good with polyp extension and no color fade or burn. ( knock on wood).

This weekend was productive. On Sunday I loaded up the Jeep and headed north to Denver to check out a few LFS and to get a first had look at Reefdelight Nicobars . At one of the shops I was able to compare the Reefbright XHO , Orphek OR3 , and the NicoBar side by side. I decided to get a 60 inch NicoBar in UV Pop. Mounting was a breeze with the Ilumagic Vitamin wings. So with things running along I decided to finish the transfer from the old tank. I moved about 25 pounds of rock from the old tank to the sump of this new one and finished moving the fish and snails over. Here is a short video please forgive the brown as the ugly has caught up.

Looking really good!

I've been looking at bars and didn't even think about the nicobar...thanks for the write up!
