I had a yellow watchman goby paired with a pistol shrimp, Bert and Ernie. Recently Ernie (shrimp) has passed away. I also have a purple firefish in the tank. Usually Bert (YWG) keeps Zipy (purple firefish) away from his caves and zippy steers clear of Bert. They get along, but don’t like to be close to each other. Ever since Ernie’s death, they love each other. They sleep together. Today I got home, and here they are side by side. Anyone else ever had this experience? It’s so strange to me. Such a sudden change in relationship!
I wonder if Bert is “guarding” Zippy the way he used to “guard” Ernie. Adorbs.
