I’m stocking (after quarantining in separate tank) my new 70 gallon tank (4ft long). I have done a lot of research but looking for personal opinions/experience on a few fish and compatibility.

So far i have:
Purple firefish
Bicolor blenny
2 occelaris clowns paired
1Cryptic/pink streak wrasse
1 Skunk cleaner shrimp
1Blood red cleaner shrimp
Mix of nassarius, nerite, trochus snails
1 Watchman goby/red candy cane pistol shrimp pair

I want to add
1 flame hawkish
1 either bicolor or flame angelfish
1 royal gramma basslet

Or if the flame hawk is too dangerous for my inverts, maybe both a bicolor AND flame angelfish

Also would like to hear opinions on each species listed of angels pros/cons and if they may also be too dangerous for my three different shrimp/each other.

I might also be open to in the future in addition to/in place of the above:

Emerald crab
1 Lyretail anthia
1 Blue springer damsel
1 tomini tang OR 1 one spot fox face

Thank you to anyone who reads/responds to this!

Ps this is a soft/lps coral tank with lots of rock work and caves but a good amount of open swimming space as well

I have a 120g, I have a tomini, and a foxface and love both. The foxface hides if I go near the tank so thats kinda a bummer though. No matter what, add a flame angel last from what I hear. I want one, but havent personally pulled the trigger as I hear its like 50/50 they nip corals, and im nowhere near done stocking i think. I have a springeri damsel and hes a model citizen but hes also one of my latest fish and small. My hawkfish(spotted) is a jerk but as long as my inverts arent dying he leaves them alone. The gramma is easy, peaceful and a no brainer if you want one.

I've also heard emerald crabs often end up not reef safe. Perfectly fine... then they aren't.

Def plan on adding last!

I’d like to keep the fish smaller and i know the tomini and Fox face get relatively big for a 70g.

I’d love to do some combo of flame hawk, flame angel, bicolor angel (i think these look super cool) but im nervous for the stated reasons on all three

Thanks for the input!

IME, the Flame is generally a lot more aggressive then the bicolor. I expect they might both nip at corals, my Flames were always removed within a year of each trial. I love them, but for me the Flame is a never-in-my-reef fish unless I'm forced under duress or huge monetary bribe, neither situation is likely to ever arise.

Flame hawks I have not kept in a reef, but their reputation suggests that they would love to dwell at your shrimp bar.

I love a Tomini tang, and think it would be a great addition, as would the Springerii damsel ( especially if you don't get the two angels.) Anthia, I am not sure how they do long term solo? They are a schooling fish, and like lots of feedings, but solo makes me hesitate, but I'm not an expert on long term Anthia keeping.

Not worth much, but you asked,

The Hawkfish will kill your shrimps quickly.
Either or, not both.

You both mentioned hawkfish killing shrimp, is this more a flame hawkfish issue...? My spotted doesnt even acknowledge my fire shrimp and skunk cleaner shrimp. Been 6 months together or so

Mine is a long nose, about 4”.
Killed both within an hour of entry.
Ran directly at them first “hitting” to stun.
Nasty, but looks like not a for sure as per your experience.
I have a flame as well but he controls only the sand bed, shrimps stayed in the top 3rd.
Good to know, I do mis shrimps.

They have a reputation, they are a hunting predatory fish. If they are kept well fed I suspect they may not hunt so much?

I would probably choose to remove him before the shrimp lol, but hes been a model citizen. He hates other fish though.

The flame hawk fish I had killed every shrimp I put in the tank. Had to remove the flame hawk Fish. Strongly recommend you not get this fish if you intend to keep shrimp. If you want the red color, stick with the flame angelfish.

Both my shrimp were only an inch, that might have contributed.
Mine were both full grown, so I could definitely see that. Plus the shrimp were well established and I also had(recently lost) a red lipped blenny that formed almost a symbiotic relationship with the cleaner and owned the tank and might have protected it idk. No other fish was allowed near it. Shame it tried to perch inside an mp40..
