Have had a 55 gallon running for a little under a year, It was ran on a very low budget with minimal in nice equipment. Got a nice internship from school and finally made enough bucks to start a decent tank.

Here are pics of the old 55 before tear down and new 80 and stand before filling.

Current equipment list includes:

Mag 2 return
Bubble magus nac6 skimmer
20L dig sump. Just basic baffle setup (filter sock- skimmer- return)
2 - 120w full spectrum led panels 3w bridgelux
Reefkeeper Lite
2 300w Heaters controlled by the RKL
ATO also controlled by the RKL

Im currently away at school and my parents take care of the tank while I'm away the best they can but hiccups do occur here and there.

Here are some Progression shots over the past six months or so.

Sorry for the crappy pics they were taken by my parents with a camera phone. Flow comes from 3 ebay korallia knock offs that im not a huge fan of and hopefully upgrade soon. Anything I should differently or change would love some tips or criticism.

Here are some more pics

photo11.jpg

Also my fungia began fading about a couple months ago, now i know that when they die they sprout babies. Mine has begun this process and currently looks like this

I know not the best pic but you can begin to see the new polyps forming. Ignore the Aptasia and Cyano thats a whole nother battle I am facing head on. Whats the best way to keep the babies alive and eventually seperate from the mother colony?

Nice mixed tank. How are you finding the LEDs? Can you try and pop off the baby fungias? Your parents are doing a good job considering. Keep us updated about the Cyanno battle.

The cyano isn't a full blown outbreak yet it's localized on my sun coral unfortunately. But I believe it's due to lack flow and a bit of over feeding.(my rents love watching them eat). But I coach them over the phone on water changes and dosing and whatever needs to be done. As for the Baby Fungia I've heard popping them off or that they will pop off when they are ready. Hoping for someone with experience on this to chime in.

Aptasia was consumed by my Copperband but unfortunately it passed away. I think the yellow tang pestered it to death so now I'm trying pep. Shrimp. According to my parents they put 10 shrimp in bit haven't seen many wandering around. Do they hide a lot?

I love the LEDs and growth has been good from them. They are Chinese black box with the full spectrum of LEDs. I was debating building a floating canopy for them and maybe tossing two t5s in the there. But with mostly softies and lps I'm not sure if that would be to much light or not.

Also any input on what i should upgrade next flow or return and what size return do you think would be good?

Also if I were to put In a refugium what would be the best way to plumb it in? Right now I have 20 long sump and 24x48 of cabinet space total.

any recommendations on this? I have a spare ten gallon in the garage or can pick something else up. I use a trash can for ATO and that pretty much fills the space to the right but that can be replaced.

Just curious, what are the dimensions on the tank? I have an 80 gallon 48x24x16 and I am debating on stocking levels. Would like to compare to what you have. I was looking at similar lights for mine so good to hear they are working out for you.
