I had a pair of zebra dartfish in my 34 gallon. The tank also has a pair of ocellaris, a Tanaka Pygmy wrasse and a shrimp goby living with a candy pistol shrimp.

The other day, one of the zebra dartfish jumped out and my cats quickly killed it. I could not believe the dartfish fit through the screen net.

I was looking into adding another Zebra dartfish. However, I saw a pair of purple firefish on sale for $35.

I was wondering if I can add these new dartfish with the remaining zebra, or will they fight.

Also, would a scissortail dartfish be a better fit, or should I try to stick with another zebra?

Usually those would be ok. I’m super leery about pairs in tanks though unless it’s cardinals or clowns.
