Over the last month I have been slowly consolidating a couple nano tanks into a 90 gallon while also purchasing some additional fish which go into a separate 10 gallon quarantine tank for observation.

Current stock in the 90 gallon are
1 Royal Gramma
1 Pajama Cardinal
2 Black Bar Chromis
4 Scissortail Dartfish.

I also have a Melanaris Wrasse and a Yellow Flanked Fairy Wrasse in separate tanks and was hoping to add to the 90gallon. The Fairy Wrasse is new and as far as I can tell is quite aggressive towards Dartfish. A single Dartfish was still in quarantine when I added the Fairy Wrasse and it was relentlessly targeted by the Wrasse. I was not expecting this aggression and am now concerned the Melanaris Wrasse could also act aggressively towards the Dartfish. Currently the Scissortail Dartfish swim freely as a group in the upper water column of the 90 gallon. They are outgoing and eating well.
How much of a risk is adding the Melanaris Wrasse to the 90 gallon? I would like to have it there for pest control. It’s never been aggressive to other fish but it has never been with Dartfish, just clowns and a Damselfish and Royal Gramma.
The Fairy Wrasse is my largest concern. I assume even given the much larger space in the 90 gallon that it may still target the Dartfish. I had also intended to add my Firefish to go along with the Scissortails so it would also likely be at risk.
As far as a plan of action would it be best to use an acclimation box for the Melanaris Wrasse once I attempt moving it to the 90 gallon? Should I try the same with the Fairy Wrasse or is likely to continue the Dartfish aggression? I can keep it on its own in one of the remaining tanks but at 30-32 gallons they aren’t ideally suited either.

Thanks for any help. I had read a lot about Fairy Wrasses and avoiding aggression but that info was specifically about other Wrasses. I was not expecting the Dartfish to become a target.

I think you're good with adding the Melanaris Wrasse, especially using an acclimation box. Never had issues in medium to larger tanks with a Melanaris and other wrasse.

Thank you. That’s been my experience with the Melanaris Wrasse as well. It pays attention to foraging in the rockwork and barely acknowledges the other fish. Feeling hopeful about adding it but the fairy wrasse does concern me. Hoping the acclimation box would possibly allow me to see how it reacts to the dartfish. Once that fish is added I can’t imagine removing it but it is very motivated by food so maybe a trap would work.

I guess I was hoping someone might know if Dartfish just end up being seen as a competitor by Fairy Wrasses and are often bullied.
