I got a tiny anemone from a friend. Probably a rainbow bubble tip. It was the size of a coin. It's been around 3 months and it has split multiple times. Now there are around 6 of them at various places in my tank!!!!

I thought that feeding it would make it grow. But it just keeps splitting. Even after i totally stopped feeding it, it just keeps splitting and filling my tank!!!!

Any suggestions on what to do? Also how can I get them out of my rockwork?!!! Pls help!!!

My condolences! Is it bleached (a picture would help)? There's probably something wrong with the clone line. I've seen this once with some I have. I've also seen this happen once after a system was dosed with labile DOC (carbon dosing).

Pics of nem along with tank age and parameters will help. I had 3 bubble tips and eventually ended up with 49. My anecdotal experience has been that nems do much better in mature tanks. Flow, light parameters all come into play but a mature stable tank is what I have found keeps nems from splitting. The 4 below have not split in several years. I also have not fed them directly for a few years. They get fed when I feed fish and I giving them quite a bit of light, 300 - 350 par. I have a 4th not shown that moved due to being crowded I believe but it did not split.

Those "dwarfs" or miniature rainbows are more like aptasia than useful anemones....

What to do?? Enjoy it- and realize how lucky you are! :p Start selling them for a fair price to local reefers; I'd happily take some of them off your hands!
