I think I got most info from Alyssas seahorse savvy, but most regular pony info is generally applicable.

Biggest thing that's underestimated is flow. They get blown around by just an air stone's flow if they try to swim into it. I've tried many types of micro filters and pumps and have just gone back to air stone.

Awesome. I think that along with the feeding requirements will make it a no go. May just do a macro tank. Thanks!

Yes, they are super demanding.

I'm hoping to do a murder bug, do you think one would be ok in that size tank?

I'm not sure maybe, definately not a peacock. Maybe a wennerae. My little bug has gotten to be about 3 inches and it's a wennerae. Once it's gone definitely getting a peacock for the 40. I think I'm going to try for a pederson shrimp. I saw them when diving and fell in love. I just have to find a place that sells them.

I was considering a Betta for mine and was thinking about doing an airlift rather than a pump. I'd likely print something for an airlift tube and a flared out fitting to spread the flow more in the tank rather than a harsh directional flow. Same reason as the Ponies, Bettas don't prefer a ton of flow.

ATO overfilled again. After so many failures, I'm starting to wonder if it's me.

Currently looking into any setup that does NOT use optical or float sensors.

Found IM hydrofill works off electrical currents/magic

Reefbreeders prism, apparently infrared?

Any experience with either of these?

I had the RB. Liked it, till my dumb self-overfilled the sump and water got in the sensor. now it doesn't work, and I am too ashamed to ask for a third one from costumer service. Took a couple of tries to break it though.

Their costumer service is easy to work with though.
