After taking roughly a year off and moving from Houston to NYC, I have decided to get back into the hobby.

Tank: Red Sea Reefer 170 White
Return: Waveline DC2500
Skimmer: ? Still deciding ?
Waterflow: MP10
Controller: Apex
Light: Radion gen 2 (will upgrade the leds)
Nitrate/phosphate removal: NOPOX..... Maybe
Doser: Jaebo DP-4
Auto-top off: will start with stock, may upgrade to Tunze or Smart ATO
Sand: special grade
Rock: Changing my mind daily..... (Marco vs Reef cleaners vs pukini)

Scape: wanting to do something similar to a reefs edge, rock taking up 1/3 tank max, I'll have to find a picture.

Livestock-
Fish: dwarf lion or some sort of Scorpion, and maybe a school of Cardinal...
Inverts: some rock nems and many a few Maxi's plus cleanup crew
Coral: heavy emphasis on gorgonia, Zoa, with some Lps and maybe a scattered SPS..... Going to try to stay away from the skittles look (lots of different frags

My main question is which skimmer for the tank....

Currently Considering (but not limited to):
- Reef Octopus classic 110 $229
- Skimz SN 123 $199
- Ice Cap K2 50, or 120 $129/&279

I would just use my new method, no glue necessary... same result! I have a setup all ready to go if you want me to ship one to you!?! This is what it looks like installed onto the Red Sea return:

Hello all,

Can anyone with a 525 XL help me out?! I need the internal dimension of the dry side of the stand. I am trying to build a mounting system for my apex and dosing pumps, but have been unable to get good measurements from RedSea. Thanks!

18 3/4 wide x 20 '' deep

Have an odd bubble air pushing noise coming from the tank and seems to be by the return valve on the Reefer. No idea why as it is a brand new tank with M1 pump running smoothly. Just filled it 3 days ago. Any ideas?

Main return on the top of the tank has a swirl appearance in the water. Any clue how to correct this? That valve in the return is very "touchy" so nervous to mess with it.

It took me a little finagling to get mine set right also. I had to adjust my return pump first to get the flow right and then was able to use the big knob on the downpipe to fine-tune the flow regulator

Those of you who have made screen covers for your reefers - have you cut out an area for the overflow or just kept it as a rectangle shape?

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
