These fish can be highly susceptible to Ich infections. I would see if the R2R #fishmedic team can advise you on doing a medicated QT especially with a powder blue. Here's the R2R QT process if it helps: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/current-quarantine-protocol.825055/ Good luck!

At 6 months old it's quite possible that these are not diatoms, but rather dinoflagellates or a combination of both. Dinos in particular can be more difficult to deal with than other pest algae. Here's some addition info on Dinos that may help...
