After waiting for over 2 months, I've finally received my Mazarra-P, when I open the box I actually feel like an excited little boy on Christmas morning!

Without further delaying, here's the packages.

With all the boxes unpacked. Yep I've my camera ready too!

Everything opened:

Then it's time to start working on the mounting frame:

Trying it out on my tank to make sure it fits:

Finishing up the mounts and hiding all the wires behind it:

Some advices when you're setting up the mount - make sure you plan ahead how the wires are going to go, and put the cord organizers into the rails before you screw them in.

With proper planning you can simply hide all wires and cables behind the frame to give a tidy and clean finish.

Some more photos I've taken during the installation.

When I took out the front cover to replace the optics, I've taken a snapshot at the PCB inside - look at those Cree XM-L's!

Also took a shot at the LCD display on the fixture before mounting them onto the tank:

After everything is mounted and set, it's time to try out the controller. There's a learning curve using this controller but I got pretty good at it after an hour.

I have yet to test the sunrise/sunset and weather mode stuff, so I've tried out the different dimming setting first:

This is 100% on everything, the XM-L gives a warm 8000K color temperature when it's fully turned on, this is rather yellowish but my corals need it a few hours a day:

This is white at 75%, blue at 100%

White at 50%, blue at 75%, looks even darker as I'm using the same ISO, aperture and shutter speed.

Next, of course, is PAR measurement!

The height of my tank is 20", with about 17" of water.

Overall, here's the average PAR measurement:
Mazarra%252520PAR.jpg

Again, please keep in mind that:

1. These are rounded up numbers, and have an error margin of +/- 100-200 PAR, due to water current, position of the bulb above it and any obstruction from the rocks / corals nearby.

2. These numbers are for reference only, and aren't hardly accurate enough for anything else.

Wow, this was a very great review and it also enticed me to consider upgrading to these units.

Those are so darn bright my god. I wish all reviews for equipment came like this, and not just pictures on a box with 4 words.

Great work!

Oh you should, you really should. MH's power bill is killing your wallet and adding too much carbon footprint imho.

Thanks, and yeah they're very bright, but you can always dim it down. I'm running full blast only 4 hours a day, the rest of the time, it's usually between 50-75 % intensity, but the color makes me drool :xd:

so, for a 40 gal tank how many modules would be recommended?

1 or 2 perhaps? It's very situational, you can try asking on their facebook page, there's an icon on their website that links to it.
