Hey all. After being at RAP Orlando this weekend and meeting some of the R2R people again, I was encouraged to start a build thread. My son was just born back in January. I couldn't think of a better addition to his nursery other than a reef tank. I have been in the hobby/business so saltwater aquariums for 15+ years now and hoping the little guys takes a liking to it as well. Here's a few shots of its progression.

Got him a little snowflake ocellaris with a RBTA

Just picked up a cad lights bio pellet reactor while at RAP

And lastly the most recent full tank shot. Battling some new tank syndrome and pest algae but hoping this reactor helps out until I can get a skimmer for it

That is awesome! We just had our son this month and I think that would be an awesome addition to his nursery. Great job! Can't wait to see it mature!

I threw out the stock lights that came with mine. A monti I put in there started to bleach after 2 days. Id keep an eye on that bta. Also the innovative marine skimmer caused nothing but problems for me lol. And how is that media reactor working for you? Does it fit well in the back of the tank? I was checking them out at RAP.

I've seen many do that with their lights but prob won't be going to crazy with corals. Thinking softies like zoas, ricordea and maybe some lps. IM is the only making a small enough skimmer so I may have no other choice. So far the reactor has only been running for a day, so far it's good, just trying to tune in the tumble speed as running Dr Tim's pellets.

Great idea! I'm sure it will lull him to sleep at night.

Yeah he loves it! I have a 55 fish only display and we usually set his bouncer up in front of it and he's entertained for hours. Will be starting that thread soon as I slowly convert to reef.

Thanks all for great feedback. I'll try and get some more pics soon as we get more critters for it.

Found a panorama pic we took right after we finished the nursery. Figured it would add to the overall effect of the build.

Have some goodies coming next week. Was able to order the new IM ghost skimmer and some other equip for my little guys tank. Trying to get the permission to start transitioning my 55 fish only to reef, but my wife isn't budging yet lol. Post as soon as I get things installed.

Ok guys so got a few goodies in today. Just a little insight, I own and operate a small maintenance and custom installation company here in south Florida and was able to get my hands on the brand new IM Ghost Skimmate! Also got their custom caddies and spin streams. Looking good so far besides my little slime algae problem. Decided to pull some out to helps things move along. Here are some pics...

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
