Got a wrasse but have no idea what species it is? ~~Post it here with a good~~, Email me: [email protected] with a clear picture and I'll ID it for you. If you can capture a photo with the fins flared out, all the better. :wink:

Hello. I think it is a Halichoeres annularis (Dusky Wrasse) but wouldn't mind another confirmation. It's a little over one inch currently. Thanks!!

Juvenille halichoeres are always challanging, as they change A LOT as they mature.

That being said I do believe that's a Dusky Wrasse (juvi). However, you are incorrect on the Latin name (I'm guessing lead astray by Live Aquaria; they have had the wrong latin on this species for a while - I should notify them of this). I don't have any wrasses atm but I'm sure it won't be long til I have a "few" again. ;)

Wow I didn't realize the dusky wrasse looked like that as a juvi. I had one for about a year but didn't get a chance to see that. Very cool. I love wrasses as well so I'll be following.

I know we already discussed this, but for archival purposes:

And I do not know of a way to determine sex with that species, nor can I seen to find any info on such. Sorry. :(

This guy did not want to hold still for a second. He was labeled as a Lime Wrasse but when researching I could only find a Lime Green Wrasse and this guy wasn't that green. He was very pastel with almost faded colors. If you can help that would be great but I understand the pictures are not that great.
