So for the past few weeks/days I have noticed Hewbie swimming head down in the water. I thought he was just being quirky. But then in the past few days I noticed him eating less. I saw a fluke on the angelfish and dosed half expired prazipro and then new prazi but may have slightly overdosed by two capfuls over because I panicked when I saw the first fluke. I have a 120 with sump. This was on Thursday/Friday and soon after a water change when he got worse. Hewbie was swimming upside a few days/weeks prior to all of this but now he won’t eat anything and was eating the bubbles from the air stone. I thought maybe the prazipro was not helping his situation so I decided to run my reactors with new carbon. I also decided to try and burp him to see if he had any air. Well the result was an unhappy half puffed Hewbie that spit in my face. He is also still upside down and swimming lopsided. I’m not sure how to help him because I’m not sure the exact cause. This was happening prior to the prazipro dose and I thought flukes were a factor…but only the angelfish has a fluke I can see and I think overdosing prazipro made it worse. I’m so worried he is dying and I don’t know what to do. Again note this had been going on prior to all of this for over a week but gotten way worse. He is breathing normally, is not flashing, etc. @Jay Hemdal Please help!

Ayden, post this on the fish disease subforum, but until then, @Jay Hemdal @vetteguy53081 #fishmedic

I don't want anything to happen to Hubbie 🙂

Best of luck to you both!
Thank you. I’m praying and hoping for the best. I don’t think I’ve ever been so nervous for him and unsure of what to do. He has been through many diseases and issues but this is something new to him and me. I fear physically doing anything more to him will kill him from the stress because he is not happy with me. I know I traumatized him!:(

I am so sorry! I think all of R2R loves this fish 🙂

I'd wait for the R2R Fish Medic guys to reply before doing anything.

Following along and very hopeful for Hewbie 🙂

Ayden, I don't think we've met yet, but I've been following your posts about Hewbie for a while now. I'm rooting for him!

My tilefish was also floating upside down when he got severely constipated and refused to eat for a few days. It was a very scary sight! I built little shelves at several different levels all over his quarantine tank so he could anchor himself better and float underneath them instead of being pushed around by the flow.

He eventually got better after about a week, the constipation cleared out and he started swimming upright again. Hoping for the best for Hewbie too!

In the meantime, this might help: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/causes-of-abdominal-swelling-in-fishes.1098720/

Praying for you and Hewbie, you mentioned no labored breathing and no flashing? Is it swimming normally or having trouble swimming? Also did it eat normal? I pray for you!

Ah good to see you man. I’m doing ok not really on the forums anymore. How are you?
Well thanks! Glad to still see you around 🙂

Have you considered posting this on other forums that are specialized in treating and quarantining fish to see if you could get better help? Hopefully your little guy pulls through.
We have experts right here on R2R to help with treating and Qt'ing fish. I would suggest listening to their advice 🙂

What is wrong with posting on other places in addition to here? Time is of the essence here and its not like there aren't disease experts outside of R2R. So far only one "Fish Medic" has responded and all they said was to wait for a "Fish Medic."

imo time is of the essence, you should ask everywhere that you know has people with fish disease knowledge

The fish medics have been tagged and will be able to help once they're online. Based on my experience, that probably won't be until morning since the post was made pretty late and most of them are in CT/ET. I'm not sure whether we have any European medics here in the meantime.

And from what I know, even the two main medics on Humblefish are based in CT/ET and most likely won't see it until tomorrow. I don't know of any other forum that could help without giving out confusing or straight up wrong/dangerous misinformation...

I might be a little slow, but I was just confused on this part.
