I recently won a bunch of coral on some bids from a coral store that went out of business. They threw in this extra coral and I have no idea what it is. It didn’t ship very well and the top portion of it died back a little, but the bottom portion is taking off now. The polyps have changed color...

Will encrusting coral, lepton’s, chalice, stylo etc. will they encrust over gravel medium?
I’m placing a lot of my encrusting coral at the bottom of the tank but not on rocks but gravel. I created a hill slope with gravel in my display tank and would like the encrusting coral to cover it. Has...

Hi all, I got some frags from my LFS yesterday and could use an ID on one of them. It's a dark orange color with a yellow/green undertone. It's got a fuzzy texture and has little orange bumps throughout. Thanks!

I started imagining a crazy art piece of an aquascape like a castle that some guy who makes the CaribSea rock just put together with spare time and it got me to googling encrusted skulls so here are some cool photos and it would be cool for you to add more if you have some :)
Hi everyone, bought this encrusting sps, looks maybe like a leptastrea of some kind but I don’t see any kind of big polyps, maybe it’s closed but not too sure, any help with an ID would be great
I really fell in love with my Neon green Leptoseris so I got another small frag of Jack-O for $100. I feel like they’re really rewarding as a beginner SPS because they grow fast and are pretty hardy. I want to collect more morphs of Lepto and I was wondering if Lepto can be in close proximity to...

We’re new to the coral game and I’m trying to understand how to pick shelf vs. encrusting corals for our new 200g build. This is especially challenging with all of the stupid coral names out there.
My understanding is that monti capricornis for instance will form a shelf, while certain others...
Hi all,
I picked up a new piece from the LFS this Friday.
They had previously cut off a hunk (about 2" x 1" x 1" - like half of a tennis ball and hollow inside) from a large, established coral (maybe 2 feet all the way around!) that I bought.
NOT sure what this is, but I'm guessing some sort...
Just wondering what creative folks we have here:) post photos of your tanks with coral frowning on something cool! Or even growing in a cool way! In my tank I have a Goni on top of a tree statue:)
I added a small frag of encrusting Green Star Polyps and gave it its own rock island. Fast forward a year, and it's grown so much that it stretched over the sand and finally found my main rock work. I was too slow in stopping it, and it's now growing up towards my other corals.
Last night I...
