I’m having such a hard time on lowering my phosphates.
I read lower by doing water changes, feed less turn skimmer on
Then higher narrates , feed more. Turn off skimmer no water changes.
Bad Dino’s and algae

Someone told me to dose ammonia and I still have some dr timms is that safe for higher nitrates?

What do you have in your tank? I wouldn't dose ammonia if theres fish, even though many hardy ones can survive it's not very safe for them overall. What I would do if there are fish, is move them to a quarantine/temporary tank, and then dose ammonia and do a sort of "cycle reset" until it's good to go. For phosphates, just feed less, and do water changes. Coral and macroalgae consume phosphate if that says anything. Not sure whats causing it though. I don't run a skimmer on any of my tanks and I've never had phosphate issues but maybe someone else.

The amounts we add with ammonium is far less than what is toxic to fish. It’s totally safe. :)

I wouldn’t use Dr. Tim’s because there is no purity grade.

I made this comprehensive article about how to raise nitrate and other nutrients if needed. There are recipes and instructions there.

It also goes over which filtration methods could be removed and which ones should stay:
