Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
If I were to buy a sea hare would it just obsolete all the other snails that eat Gha?
No they also eat film alge, there will be plenty.

hmm... didn't know turbo snails cause a bomb. What eats ur Gha?
I suppose if you don’t have carnivore cuc they could. I’ve never taken a turbo out and probably have almost a half a dozen empty shells in my tank. The nassarius snails, bumblebee snails and hermits make quick work of them before they decompose. They can be bulldozers so make sure everything is glued down.

Bulldozers for coral too? What should be glued down?

Alright. How long does it usually take for the hares to eat ALL of the GHA.

That depends on the size of the tank and amount of gha. A week to a a few.

Dont gotta worry just got one leather coral attached to rock.
If you haven’t placed your order add 5 peppermint shrimp. You’ll have to deal with the aptasia sooner or later.

Beats me. I have Trochus, Nerites, Nassarius, and Ceriths (plus 2 conches). I have a Starry Blenny, a Tomini tang, and a Foxface. I have a Scarlet Reef hermit, some blue legs, some Grey Stripe, a Halloween, and some red leg hermits.

By "a bomb" I mean they can cause a nasty ammonia spike when they die.

Will do

I dislike Turbos. When they die (because they will) you have to remove them immediately so they don't bomb the tank. Plus they get big and destructive. Just not my cup of tea. I prefer coffee.

Stomatellas and Trochus will very readily breed and populate the tank.

Dwarf Ceriths are only between .25 and .5 inches and stay very small. Great cleaners but you really need a lot. Plus I have Wrasses that eat snails and crabs occasionally so 50 turns to 25 in a few days in my tank.

I love Nerites and they are always cleaning glass and rocks. But they lay eggs that don't hatch and they'll climb out of your tank if given the opportunity. Plus they're not exactly cheap.
I on the other hand love tea (with a large serving of steamed milk). I also love turbos, but they come with caveats. Don't treat them just like cleanup crew, treat them like you would a fish. Make sure they are fed. If they eat all your algae, you need to supplement them with nori. That's right, I spent months feeding two turbos snall squares of nori every night because they laid my tank bare of any algae. If you are already keping tabs of them daily you'll know when they die and can remove them quickly. That or let your bristleworm population grow a bit and you'll never have anything in the tank dead long enough t cause a spike.

Sea hares are their own set of difficulties. They can mow through GHA, but can also be picky just like the others when it comes to long unkept GHA. And they can up and die on you and cause an ammonia spike since nothing is eating them quickly. They can also foul up the tank if bothered by releasing toxins, although I understand this is rare. They're harder to keep happy, but that's my experience with two hares in the early stages of a nasty tank, so maybe they're easier when things are more stable.

Interesting... I am going to try a sea hare but manual removal will not work on Gha. Im extremely stuck

Manual removal is always an option, it just isn't fun ha. I'd try to remove as much as you can and try another dose of fluconazole .

fluanzacole doesn't seem to be working...

You might want to have a closer look at what you've got then to make sure it isn't some type of turf algae. In principle, Flux works quickly on bryopsis, medium fast on GHA and slowly on bubble algae (but only at higher concentration). Turf I have no idea--that stuff is tough.
