Oh right, if you get an urchin or turbo, Botrycladia is toast. If your pom pom is grown in enough it'll outpace the urchin and turbos (generally), and so will Codium.

Hey guys, anyone have experience with forrest fire montipora digitata? I got a nice piece, but it broke into a few "sticks" as I was mounting it. This is probably a dumb question, but can I mounting the broken pieces just like I did the main colony and hope for growth?

@cdemoss01 I tested my water today and my phosphates were a bit high at .8. I did a 30% water change and added a little bit of phosgaurd in a small mesh bag to the back chamber. I'll replace it a couple of times over a couple weeks. I'll let you know if it works for me.

Will a sea hare touch pom pom? What inverts eat it?

Absolutely. It's just fragging. There was a study done that when pieces were fragged a certain way and put close together they grew and formed faster than a single frag. But was cut differently.

Makes perfect sense about them just being little frags. That's really cool about the study, they look even better now in my opinion. Thanks for the response my friend. I'll keep you guys posted. Not the best pictures but here they are.

Not 100% sure what you mean, but I believe you are asking if you could reconstruct it to how it was before it was broken? If that's what you're asking, then no, that wouldn't work. But like @Ben's Pico Reefing said, you definitely can keep them, it's just fragging.

Have pondered in the past that rusty magnets/equipment leach iron and then increases growth of algaes but we tumble GFO which is rusty iron to drop phosphates and supposedly reduce algae. Have also been down these roads in the past. It can sometimes feel like running in circles dealing with nuisances in the reef.

My cleanup crew from reef cleaners showed up and I dumped them in, hopefully this sand bed gets some love now. They seem mad to be in WI instead of FL, there is a dusting of snow on the ground. Lost my UPS access point that I would ship all my livestock to then drive 45 minutes to get it. Next closest one is like an hour but not open Tuesday to Thursday..... No idea how I am going to get livestock now ....

Believe me on the magnet. As soon as I removed the cleaner from my tank I noticed a decrease in GHA. Within a week it was all gone.
