Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
I've never vacuumed my sand. Rarely vacuum rocks in freshwater either though...
I never do my freshwater I have way to many plants in my tanks plus I have trumpet snails that keep them clean. For those of you that don't know freshwater they are like the nassarius snails but smaller they stay mostly in the substrate except for at night and when they sense food.

I might do that because its driving me nuts... lol
Understandable, we want our front/display glass to be tidy. It definitely catches the eye when it’s visibly gross underneath.

Sometimes the thick beds can be tough, I’m sure

what are your guys thoughts on siphoning sand? ive heard so many conflicting things. some say dont touch it and let your cuc clean it. others have said absolutely suction it because you need to clean all the yucky stuff out. im just wondering because its getting harder to clean the sand with all the corals:rolleyes:. hate disturbing them everytime i clean
oh and i love horse shoe crabs! i need to get another one someday!
I siphon then replace all the time.
No worries Jill.
If you want to do it let me know and I'll explain more.

Thanks Kev. What’s up folks, Steve here. Great community you all have in here. Was waiting for the prime time to chime in. This is my 2yr old 25 gallon mixed

Lovely...

I did a heavy cleaning today on my display rocks/sand, and dosed microbacter7 with a calcium carbonate mixture. Hoping that helps with the cyano. The filter socks i pulled out were blood red

didn't take me a year to go big either. Just checked on these cuties since I haven'seen them in like a week. had to feel around for them and get them up. Have had them since July maybe? best sand sifters in there.

I've read older books that said they're hard to keep. Do you have to do anything special for them?

heres your pics @kingranch2003 of the aqua rocks:) i think the corals are still a little grumpy at me for

Jill that is AWESOME!! I like them all! The gonis are beautiful! I need to pick your brain about them obviously. I cannot wait to see the acans grow over the rock.

Is that the tree with the octospawn on it?
