00W's AIO Smorgasbord

[Nor'easter Reefer]

My boys were known in the neighborhood when they were young as animal people. One day I answered the door and one of my youngest son’s friends dad was standing there with a shoebox and asked for him. After a storm the night before, we ahad a nature preserve in our backyard, he found a duckling that he thought my son could care for. That little guy followed my son around and if it wasn’t paying attention and my son walked away it would run to him flapping it’s little wings screaming. When it finally got it’s adult feathers we took it to a small lake behind my mother’s condo because there was always ducks and geese. None that day, we would walk it down to the lake and walk away and it would run to us. My older son’s girlfriend’s mom had taken him to a restaurant on a lake with tons of ducks so they went there and when he saw the other ducks he ran straight into the lake. It’s true what they say about it blank like a duck!

I had a little duck that had wry neck (couldn't hold it's neck up and it flopped down onto its back) and the wife and I nursed it back to health, even though everyone said to cull it because it wouldn't survive. It came to the front and got much better pretty quick and used to follow me all the time. We called her flipper because her head flip flopped.. :grinning-face-with-sweat:
