Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Not to actually bring up reef-keeping, but have a question for you old-timers.

My tank is considered small (75 DT), and I only have 4 fish currently (2 clowns, goby, wrasse); with two tangs arriving this month.

I’m trying to streamline the feeding process as my house space is very small.

Is it silly to spend money on fresh reef nutrition brand foods and go ahead and premix and freeze in small cubes for convenience or for nutritional effacy, which is the whole point of fresh, just mix daily in a cup to broadcast feed?
I can’t think of any reason why not. It’s basically what LRS Reef Frenzy is and many people on this forum buy fresh sea food blend it up and freeze it in cubes.

I wouldn't mix Reef Nutrition cubes. If you wanted that for ease, just mix up which cube you feed each time? Most people that make their own frozen use fresh seafood typically and make it in batches. You spend about the same amount for 10x or more feed.
Yeah, the Reef Nutrition is all fresh in a bottle- I think I’m overthinking this

Sorry, I was thinking you were talking about the frozen cubes. Either way, I feed pellets and flakes, add nori when I think about it, and toss in a frozen cube infrequently.

Do you have a recipe for this? I would be afraid I was not putting the right stuff in it.

YES!! I totally agree! It’s huge for me! But in this hobby it’s considered small / at least by the boys club
I’m in the girls club :crying-face: ! I suppose I will have to begin identifying as female. Is there an online place to get hormones?

I use frozen mysis. I defrost the bag, rinse it in ro water and then spread it thin in a freezer bag and freeze it. Then break into small piece to use. I also feed small pellets with an auto feeder for their lunch. I also put in nori sheets everyday for the 6 tangs.
I currently have frozen PE Mysis cubes and TDO chroma pellets. No autofeeders as I will feed manually.

I also have the hikari seaweed squares.

I’ve gotten a nice variety of foods, just need to create a logical meal plan that is easy to execute. Again, I’m overthinking.

I don’t plan to buy seafood from market and DIY.

I don't make frozen since I have piles of flake and pellet feeds. There are plenty of people on here that do though.

I run two auto feeders - 1 with a mix of a couple different flake foods and 1 with a mix of different pellet foods.

I also make my own food with my old vita mix. I get some fresh human grade seafood, shrimp, clams, squid and gride it up frozen. The I add, brightwell aminOmega, cut up nori, calanus, golden pearls, rotifers, zooplankton (800 microns), copepod powder, paracocus powder, spirulina powder, dry mysis, crushed krill, and a big bag of frozen mysis drained. Mix it all up and freeze it thin into 4 ounce bags. Been giving it away to people here in AZ too. In the process of having a local place start to sell it..Since when I make a batch it turn out to be like 10 pounds....

Haha, downsizing to an AWESOME eShops Mariner!!! That’s an upgrade. So excited for you to get the fish and cord in. Did you decide on a theme?
Pile it in, add some more?

Full to bursting at the seams?

I'm pretty much transferring everything from the 125 (except rock and sand) so there's not much theme beyond shooting for open swim space, caves, and shelves with LOTS of coral and probably too many fish.

Ok so what are some good flake or pellet foods? I have frozen mysis shrimp and brine shrimp and blood worms for my freshwater fish and flakes for then as well but haven't read yet if salties need different foods than my freshies.

See, I love that whole idea as I love to cook; but it’s not realistic for my current lifestyle and surroundings.

Your a chef!!

That totally works for me! You can really showcase what you have and love the most
