Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
The numbers Vintage referred to aren't entirely wrong; he's just mistaken in the concept and the range can be bigger in some casses

That range he's talking about does exist, but it's between the temperature inside the house and the air that has just passed through the coil and into the ducts to be distributed throughout the house. That is, if it's 80° inside the house, if you put a thermometer in the duct exiting the air handler, it should be between 50° and 60°. But there are other factors to consider, such as the tonnage of the unit in relation to the house, efficiency, cleanliness, etc.

In my house, for example, I have a 20 SEER (efficient) condensing unit, and at any temperature in the house, if I measure it at the air handler duct it's 48°.

My youngest son is home, he seems much better. Now the tricky part, getting a 22 yo to stay in bed as he is feeling better. 🤔

Your unit is a 4 ton Paul, I don't know if your generator can handle it, but you can try.
Yeah I figured it was 4 ton. I’d be afraid if it struggled I would damage it. I know I need to replace an electrical wire going into it. Grounds Keeper Willy I think hit it with his weed whacked a few times. The rubber sheath is chewed a bit a deteriorating.

It would be good if you spoke to an electrician @Nor'easter Reefer to see the unit's consumption and how much it supports the generator. I have an 8250, but my air conditioner is 3 tons. It runs the air well, the tank, refrigerator, and all the lights in the house

how kind of her amanda! thats pretty neat! i have seen pics of those creatures but dont know anything about them.
glad your son is doing better kevin!
Hey Jill, how is your CBB doing?

I appreciate your clarification Luis. That is what I love about this family! We have a lot of very knowledgeable family members.

Man I picked the wrong day to come to Taco Bell for lunch. The line is really long to get to drive threw where I can get my food i ordered on the app.
Are you able to walk inside to get it? It may be quicker

I sent that earlier brother!!
Last night after work, I was helping my wife in the flower gardens. I told her I had 'swamp butt'... her come back was... that's nothing compared to a clam bake! I laughed so hard I think I wet myself!!

50mg benadryl, 2mg ativan and 5mg haldol if you have it sir!

Do you know how many watts it pulls? I can run my A/C, fridge and tank off my 8000w portable Generac.

still not eating. going to try hatching out some brine shrimp now
I know you have it in a little tank, but did you provide it a hiding place? If not, you could use a 3" PVC coupling. That may help...

I'm guessing since serial is x14....the SEER is 14 and a 4 ton unit then would be ~5900W? the hook up I had installed when the house was built they said only transfers 7500W. I had a 80's? Generac 5500W generator at the time and it struggled with the sewage grinder and couldn't run the hot water heater. so I picked up a Generac xg8000e since I wanted something the wife could start if I wasn't around. what I wish I installed at the time was a Generlink. the builder never heard of them at the time but would transfer 10k. which is better but in winter would have to shovel over to get to the meter. I told my neighbor who wanted a hook up later about it. ~$800 for the device and I think $300 for the power company to hook it up. it's great because no transfer switch separately needed. 2 years later, they never bought a generator then sold and moved. person that bought the house just had a standby installed. I think the Generlink might still be on the house though. I should ask if I pay for its removal if I can have it?

I do keep looking at those Ecoflows and the like for a 3k size to avoid the exterior generator over night for some items. but for ~$1500, it's a chunk of $ for if it would really work for what I want. Originally this was the idea for the kids playhouse but then thought of temperature extremes on that battery and just quickly buried a cable before anyone noticed. 😏

Not sure if I was on last night and told the Smorg or not. So, I will say it now. I saw a post on FB Marketplace about someone getting out of the hobby. They were local to me, so I messaged them. Comes to find out, the tank was SERIOUSLY neglected, all the corals were dead and/or dying and they were just wanting to get rid of stuff. I went over because the lady said she had a Biota yellow tang. I ended up going over there and helping catch fish, CUC and what corals were left. I also set up a pump in the tank to drain the water outside. Any how, I left after rescuing the yellow tang, tomini, multiple blue leg hermits, two hammers and a duncan. I tested the water in their tank while I was there and the salinity was 1.019. No wonder the corals were dying! I acclimated the fish/corals for about an hour then put them in. I did dip the corals just in case. This morning I check on the tank and the tangs were sleeping under a rock arch and the corals were all open. I was pretty stoked since I thought the corals weren't going to make it, they looked terrible in their tank. They also had a hawk fish, coral beauty and breeding pair of clowns, but I took those to the LFS along with about 120lbs of Fiji live rock.

I would definitely ask about the Generlink! I have mine wired to where I can plug the Generac into the receptacle in the garage, then flip the switch in the basement and it runs through my electrical panel.
