Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
made a bunch RODI this morning. finished out my resin. I got 30 gallons @ 0 TDS then when I went to check the next container, it showed 1 TDS. so those 3 gallons will go to outdoor plants. anyone think I should use the previous 5 gallons before that for fish tank or plant water too? was only those last 3 gallons when the little meter went from 0 to 1. I guess I could check with the hand held TDS meter too. But now I have to cut up hotdogs for the kids to eat by fork!
I know some people that run their DI until it shows 10-12 TDS...

There really is no harm in that. I think some of the things you hear in a reefing community are based off one person's opinion and people just run with it. Example being nutrients, 10 years ago people were all about ultra low nutrients, now you have people running very successful reefs with 15-20 NO3, sometimes higher and as much as 0.10 PO4.

As requested, I cheated a little as I took these at my favorite time of day to watch the tank. The tank is just starting to wake up, the only light on is the Meridian 11 and it is pretty close to daylight balance. The shots were taken with no filters.

Yellow coris?
What nori feeder is that?
Is that your UV in the back over the tank?

Ahh... I should have said Iris. My wife has... uhmm.. I think they are called Japanese purple Iris?? Similar shape.
What were the other two?
I think it was Tiramisu Dinner Plate Iris.
The others are Keepsake Mountain Laurel and Danish Flag Poppies.

Shush, Coris? Nah just a Yellow Wrasse with Coris tendencies, but don't tell @Slocke

That is the Three Little Fishes Nori Pouch. I find it cleaner than a clip.

Yes.

You're using the same power hub I had. I went though 2 of them and they both failed. I think it was the constant on/off of the heater. Kept tripping my main breaker. I changed over to the TrippLite with GFCI.

There was a fish processing plant on the wharf so we'd take a row boat out and catch a few 5 gallon buckets of perch, then row over to the plant and leave ten minutes later with tons of beautiful butterfly fillets. I never did catch a Walleye in Erie but caught lots of them in the smaller lakes out east and around Akron/Canton.

Now I get Walleye once a year. Culver's has Walleye during lent in addition to their normal cod.

I agree there's nothing like a perch fish fry but walleye is a close second.
This was a few years ago. Went out in my brother in law’s boat out of Ashtabula., 50 minutes north of where I am.

By the way, pretend you don't see the wiring mess on the stand. I'm making some new power brick brackets soon and I'm still rearranging from the switch back to gyres from the Nero 3s and from 3 Prime 16HDs to 2 Prime 16 HDs and a Meridian 11.

That mountain laurel is beautiful! I'll be searching on where to buy one of those.

Please define a 'few' sir. Also, nice walleye!

Lol thanks brother. How are you today?
I'm vertical and have a pulse, so life is great my friend! I go by a motto, have no expectations of others and you will never be disappointed.

I've had good luck with them, mine are the PC-100As from American DJ. I have six of them around the house and have used one or two on every tank in the last 20-some years. Never had one fail (knock on wood). I use a plug in Self-Resetting Outdoor-rated GFCI plugged into a wall plug that has an outdoor cover over it.

Edit---

Forgot to add Tripp-Lite makes really good power equipment. It is all I use at our parish, except a few legacy APC units.

That's a good idea!
