Pros/cons in your experience?

It isn't much different from other options but my experience with them was thirty years ago and today's canisters are much easier to service than they were then. I think that for anything under about 40 gallons HOB or in tank solutions are more convenient as cleaning or doing media changes in a canister is generally more difficult then an HOB or in tank. Once you get over about forty gallons the canister is a better choice because of the amount of flow they produce. One place a canister is also useful is if for one reason or another you can not have enough rock/sand in the aquarium. A canister makes a very good cryptic zone refugium. The biggest downside to a canister is that it too easy to set it up and then forget about it.

I don’t know, I’m am not a Baker but for decades my wife, mother, aunts and cousins would spend a whole day making them before Christmas. I could see if my wife has a recipe but her family doesn’t write much down, you’ve got to stand next to them to learn.

No as much as I would love to try it I'm sure it had at least a week's worth of carbs. However if one finds its way to my house at Christmas I would have to eat it because turning down a gift would be rude. Lol my aunt one shipped a red velvet cake to my mom from NC to Texas and it actually made it in one piece. That was many many years ago when I was 7 or 8 when delivery people took pride in their jobs and didn't throw packages.

This is Sheldon. Hes the first inhabitants of the Biocube. He lives with the funk currently fighting to figure itself out in my tank. Aka the uglies. I bought the shell under the assumption that he was in it because we lost him but guessed thats where he was. LFS told me not to pay, and if I got home and he came out, I could pay for him when I went back for my tailspot blenny!

Thank you! I have what I think are pineapple sponges that appeared a while back in my 125 they live in a shady area on some of my rocks. I think they are pretty.

It is just a pile of rock in a dark area, usually with a mud or sand base. It allows for inhabitants that live in the dark areas of a reef. It adds diversity along with more bacteria. They aren't common but they do work.

Ah kessil A160s. Used to run them. I'm having issues with my REEFLEDS to be honest with you. I can't get them to light the tank.. waste of money?

I have canisters on all my freshwater tanks except my little 6 gallon betta tank it has a sponge. I have a marineland or fluval canister on the 40 right now but I also still have lots of HOBs in storage that I could use just trying to figure out which would be best.

Like I said I used canisters for ever until I got a wet/dry in the late 80’s.
I still used one until about 2 years ago.
Honestly I still tell people who have problems with low nitrates to install a canister and pack it with floss.
Works every time

Hot take here.. I've been offered an extremely good offer for a DC simplicity 120. It's an advanced skimmer that's 250$ on market but I'm offered 100$ with shipping. It's completely controllable in sump skimmer. Now this is a HOT take but.. what if I ran the remora, a fuge and the simplicity. Maybe take the remora out at some point of course. Should I take the deal?

It has to do with how my dad has the eyelets in the roof. He won't help me reanchor them so I'm most likely on my own for this.. which might end badley
