In a world where we can be connected with people all over the place, there are still many who feel isolated and alone. It is sad when I read stories or hear people talk about how they have no friends, don't feel connected, and in general feel like they are by themselves. Do you know someone like this? We should be that friend or that person for those who feel isolated. If you notice someone who is struggling with this, talk to them. Be their friend. Curbing someone's isolation can be the single greatest gift you give to someone.

I actually just used similar phrasing yesterday in my "Exit Interview Survey". When they asked about some of my frustrations, I said that sometimes it feels as if our City Hall treats our department as an island.
