Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Could be, but the only way algae can grow on it is if there is no living tissue. My gonis get between 275-300 PAR and are thriving. I know what many say... but... they can and do acclimate quite well. They also get flow to where their polyps are moving vigorously.
Oh I thought he was talking about a scoly.

Side note, I'm really not sure what those pics are to the right of Grinch. I am honestly afraid to ask nor am I going to zoom in.
I did! Looks like pot roast (hopefully)

:)

Mostly feeling better as the meds start kicking it to the curb, yes.

Mine wasn't a Goni question so much as a Scoly statement.
Scoly Statement. .....90s Punk album?

I'm sad John hasn't offered me any Scoly advice yet...
Haha I started catching up and failed like 5 times. Im all in now brother. Let's get you a scoly!

Thanks again for all the help! I am sure once its dialed in I will kind of know it better lol. Just new to Acros.

My tank size is a IM 25 gallon lagoon. It looks like the width of your tank is 21.7"(L) and mine is 23.6"L (even though it is longer its less tank volume its only 12 inches tall).

Is your Hygger 2600gh on max power. I know you said random but I am not familiar with them so I am not sure if it goes from from 0 to 100 or if they have like a random 5/10 that keeps it similar to the 1300 GPH on the Nero so ~ 2600 total for your tank. If you know what setting you have selected I can probably research to find an approximate GPH. Just not sure if one side is ~1300 and the other side is 2600gph as that would be much higher than mine.

The anti sync is nice because it means they are not both on all the time so it makes the coral flow back and forth like they are doing the wave lol. As there is some overlap when both are on but then a second or two where one side is on and the other is not.
You're more than welcome Thomas. You're correct about the tank sizes as well. 21.5 cubed.

Good question the random flow on the hygger does NOT have an intensity setting. All the other settings do. Id also be curious to find out the number as well.

Dont worry about those acros! If you dont know par up top, just watch the corals and be ready to move them down if the start to bleach. I doubt this'll happen, but just be aware. Dont beat yourself up over N03 and P04 just yet. Light and flow first, then stability

Lol I wouldn't tell you to toss your corals, but there's an option Tim lol. Ill take some of the GHA frags if you have extra!
Ummm... GHA is green hair algae.

Ill figure it out Tock, because they're such amazing corals. I may give it a while though. I do still have one.

Oh man I love that one! The green and the purple and the way it looks sparkly...

I hope it's ok to bring back an older thread. I'm looking at SM's Hog 3xx to add to my refugium. It's definitely undersized for my 300gal but I'm hoping it will complement my refugium which is not doing much of anything (new tank started about 6 months ago, refugium implemented about 3 months ago) with caulerpia. I don't have any more room in the bottom of my stand for another device. Any comments on SM and their products would be helpful as well as thoughts on my proposed application. This will be in my living room so I don't want it to be deafening.
@VintageReefer I have to summon VR on this one. Buddy, got a minute?

Is the goni getting enough light and flow? The algae took hold on the dead exposed skeleton, it won't grow on living tissue. You can try a weak peroxide dip. I'd start with 1/2cup peroxide to a half gallon of water... I'd try to get the algae off it before it smothers it. Leave it in just long enough for the algae to start bubbling. Don't rinse it, just put it back in the tank. The peroxide won't hurt anything in the tank. It may make somethings close up a bit though.
Thanks Rock. As soon as I get settled in here I'll give that a try. I'll also move it into a higher light, higher flow location.

Ummm I think all of us are going nuts on some level...
Going, GOING??!!! I'm there, I willingly drove to Ohio, OHIO!!! Of all places to meet with Kev! KEV of all people. I must be 🤪 😜 🤪
