Ah now it makes sense.

My best bet for now would to run skimmer less. Sadly this remora doesn't do much as of right now. So it's time I move into my sump era.
The only thing is a sump weighs A LOT more then the remora.

Yes it does… probably around 200lbs more!

Thankfully, adding jack posts to the basement isn’t particularly challenging to do! (Assuming you can talk dad into it!)

Unsure if I'll be able to... But Ill see what I can do.

Ah I was figuring something like a 40Breeder for your sump, roughly halfway full of water (20gal water + glass weight, and equipment weight, vs. remora/water weight inside it)

A sump shouldn’t ever be full, unless the power is out and the water used to fill it came from the display tank’s outage drain-down volume!

Rarely if they're run right. They should never be full.

Well, what size is the display?

I typically try to shoot for 33% of display volume for my sumps, so a 60g tank would get a 20g, or larger sump!

Ignore the knocked over doser bottle it's not spilling just got knocked over when I was taking photos.
I also did the width of the cabinet compared to my hand.. it may be under 12.

Hmm…. The center brace is removable, but should NOT be removed unless the display tank is completely empty…

I don’t think a 20g long will fit in there unless it’s >=12.5” wide… and, you’d have to pull the center brace (drain the display)…

How much height do you have inside the stand? A 20g tall might fit without center brace removal if you have the width for it!

The center brace isn't causing obstruction though right? Height wise there's about a foot and a half in there easy.
Also my hand is quite large.. that may not have been the greatest comparison

The center brace would prevent you from sliding a 2.5ft long sump straight in, and the sump would be almost exactly the interior width of the stand, so it couldn’t easily fit in diagonally (without the stand being further from the wall)!

A 20g tall is around 16-18” tall, if memory serves correct! This one would be best revisited with a measuring tape when you get the time! (You will need space above the top rim of your sump to get hands in and work, plus space to get the skimmer/etc in!)

Now that makes sense. I've thought about an exterior sump before but my mom would probably get mad. For now I need to find a really thin tank to use as a sump I guess.

As for this I've found a few products.
There's a 15 gallon with 10 inches.. relatively cheap
Then theres a 20 gallon acrylic with 30 inches of length on it with 10 inches of width but it's very very expensive. Seemingly there isn't very many more options.

This would work, especially if you design it to have a proportionally oversized return pump chamber!

(Once the sump tank gets too small, you start encountering issues like either running out of return chamber volume during pump startup, or overflowing the sump during return pump shutdown!)

The Truvu acrylic is for freshwater only, and it's around 450$...

There’s part of your problem! AI says all sorts of crazy things (sometimes very, very dangerous things…) for example, saltwater is only 2.5% heavier than freshwater, the acrylic doesn’t care otherwise!

What I’d recommend is relying on your proverbial uncommon sense here, and looking for a container that fits, vs. just an aquarium that fits!

Oh that's right.. 00W did say I don't need to use a tank. This makes it a lot easier. I guess certain types of tubs would do?

While looking I did actually find acrylic tanks.. bashea. Expensive but it'd be nice.
But I can't afford it lol

Looking into more industrial options.
