5. Rent, gas, and food are cheap compared to elsewhere
6. We have a large Veterans hospital on the beach here and a growing population that needs Healthcare workers.
7. If those arent good enough, refer back to numbers 1 and 4

I've lived in rooms in the Boston area, mainly around Lexington and Salem, for a few years. It is not good for your mental health and multiple pets is going to be real difficult unless you are pretty far out of the city. That said, Boston is a horrible housing market. It can be difficult to consider moves but there are lots of areas of the country that are growing quickly and need more healthcare workers urgently. You don't have to worry, MA will be able to find you to collect their 'due'.

I have been through a Fed and MA tax situation when I had a subcontractor work a back deal with a CDC provider that cost me a 60K milestone payment. I had to decide between paying my other subcontractor or the state/fed. My first obligation was to the subcontractor and the state/fed were not amused. My advice is find some way to take care of MA. They are rabid mad dogs that will send armed soccer moms after you. The fed is very reasonable by comparison. By the way moving/death/never even lived or worked there, is not an excuse with MA. They even tried to charge me excise tax on a ten-year-old car that I bought and used in OH and never even had in MA. I had to take them to court.

Moving to AZ was not without its difficulties and starting over can be risky but it was the best thing we ever did. Well, one of the best things.

Yeah,the state part is done. They very quickly pounced and garnished my wages at 25% for several months. That was one of the proverbial “break the camels back moments”. I think I’m going to offer the feds a small percentage garnishment, that way it’s gone and done with before hitting the bank. As far as housing market, it’s been bad and getting worse for years. I know that starting over particularly at my age would be challenging but as much as I do love the area overall, I have nothing tying me to being here anymore. We’ll see.

If you’re talking #4, the girl is less attractive to me than the pile of goodies in the plate.
And yeah, I’m a little tired of heavy duty winters.

Winter was one of our final straws. We lived at the end of a dead end street and the plow would leave a huge ridge of heavy snow/ice right in the street in front of our driveway. One of my best days was going to TF Green in a -6 snow storm and landing at Sky Harbor in +70 degree sunshine.

I was thinking southern Tennessee, preferably on a lake to retire but my wife would never leave her family, kids and future grandchildren ( me either come to think of it) . A nice winter cottage for January, February and March would be nice, the family could come down all they want.
