Down Town Tim Brown, the guy who lives in Arizona and used to be one of the original VJs on MTV back in the 80’s when it was all music and no commercials? Any idea how I could get in touch with him? Have you seen him climbing sides of buildings or slinging webs? If so he got his hands on some. I’m so excited. Think he would take a red monti cap frag for one!

@kevgib67 I was going to ask you if that was a birdsnest colony. I know I'm fairly new to this, but I have a high rock area getting soaked by an xr15 that is begging for an sps colony. After I get my groove and have a little longer period of success, would you recommend keeping this coral in my 40?

No. Don't do a Birdsnest. Not unless you want something that's going to grow and need constant pruning and bring constant satisfaction.

Here's my 70. Dead center is a Birdsnest that started as a 1" frag a little unde a year ago. Top left is a green Birdsnest that has tripled in size over the last 6 months or so. It's not in a happy, fast growing spot though.

Lol That is EXACTLY what I want! Beautiful, Tim. So if everything else continues to go well, that may be a good one to start with if it grows that well.

My first 16 years of reefing I had a softie and lps tank. When I got back in there was so much info. I read that the birdsnest were an easier sps even for someone who attended public schools. So I thought I would give it a shot. Those were my first sps.

This is why people do this. Look at that growth!

There are different color variants and different growth patterns. The thinner branches ones prefer lower flow and higher light, the thicker branched ones like heavier flow and high light.

I have the ORA Green and the RTA Hidden Forest (which is very similar to the Lazy's Blue Zing hybrid). Look at pink or Bird of Paradise varieties for some nice colors! Green for easier care requirements. And blue for thick, bushy Birdsnest. Most can be together, some can't touch or they'll fight.

I think tangs are my Achilles heel last night the sailfin was fine ate a little bit when I fed him then this morning it's dead. I don't understand what went wrong the tank is cycled and the shrimp that live in it and the other fish I recently moved from it to the DT before adding the sailfin to the QT are all great.

I wish I had an answer Amanda, sometimes they are bought on the down side but hasn’t shown visually. It sucks and I don’t think any of us haven’t lost fish, unfortunately it is part of this fantastic and frustrating hobby. Don’t beat yourself up and just keep moving forward.
