Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
I just wrapped up some tank maintenance. Tried to catch and relocate the Joker in the 70 because it's stinging the Bubblegum Digitata. Ended up accidentally fragging and knocking the Digi off... Decided that was easier to move so I moved it. Glued 2 pieces where it was, glued two more pieces to frag plugs, glued 2 more pieces to the main frag plug with the mother piece that was left, and then relocated the big plug to the other side of the tank.

Also, remade the Nem Cannon for the RFA in the 125. Looks promising:

Had a cup of coffee and worked on the pool. Now we're cooking on the smoker.
Sounds like a great day especially the cooking on the smoker part!

Sorry, no pictures - my wife doesn't like me taking pictures of my food :face-with-tears-of-joy: . Grilled chicken breast, grilled corn on the cob, and fried apples for dessert!

We had pizza with alfredo sauce chicken bacon and jalapeños.
We used to get a Chicken, Bacon, Ranch pizza from Walmart. It had stuffed crust and was delicious!

There is an Italian place here that has really good food that sales one like that. It's amazing.

I am leaving next Saturday. Forgot to add that
Hopefully you will feel better by then. Just found out a little while ago that one of my husband's employees has covid, my son and stepson were in close contact with him and my stepsons girlfriend has tested positive as well.

Who here doses Seachem Reef Kalkwasser?
If you do Kalk, it's probably just as easy (and way cheaper) to use Mrs Wages Pickling Salt.

I had no idea you could use that! I have a big bottle of the Kalk I ordered but haven't started dosing yet. Since I did water changes today I'm going to do testing tomorrow.

And how do you go about dosing it?
I just use baking soda for alkalinity.

Most people that use Limewater use it as their ATO. Add 2 teaspoons of pickling lime to a gallon of water, shake well and give it an hour or so to settle out. Dump the clear liquid off the top without the powder on the bottom.

I've recently begun researching it myself but it turns out I'd have to use about a gallon a day potentially and my tank doesn't evaporate that much so I'd still have to add Baking Soda still.

If it's Kalk slurry, it'll be more potent. Be careful adding too fast as it can affect your pH.

I have been researching and some say adding it to the ATO water is good others say not to do that because it could over dose it and then some say a slow dripper is the best way.

So it's basically 2 teaspoons added to 1 gallon of RODI to make Limewater.

1 gallon will raise your alkalinity approximately 1 dKh. 2.5 teaspoons of baking soda does the same adjustment but it is less likely to affect your pH.
