20 gallon change with red sea blue bucket!

I did not like the residue in the bottom of the mixing buckets but quite a difference in the tank.
It appears more vibrant, gsp especially and all 4 buckets mixed in less than 1/2 hour.

Look where there is oil, whenever there is a leak there is oil nearby, you run your finger and if it is oil, look near there, the soap is a good idea

So my wife and kids left for a bit to go pick up some pottery my daughter made. They shut it off when they left and when they got home they turned it back on. I'll check tonight but it seems to have thawed out or whatever because it was running at just over 60 again for a while now.

If I did end up getting the tank, could I make a sump out of a small tank from PetCo and plexiglass?

So my wife and kids left for a bit to go pick up some pottery my daughter made. They shut it off when they left and when they got home they turned it back on. I'll check tonight but it seems to have thawed out or whatever because it was running at just over 60 again for a while now.

If it was frozen, it was normal for it to blow 75°, find out what gas it is and when you measure the pressures, tell me or tell your friend, to see if it froze due to lack of Freon or perhaps something else.

Of course!
That tank should be 5 feet long.
Don't know if it comes with a stand but any tank would make a great sump.
20 long, 29 gallon whatever.

I actually don't have mine under my tank which people think is weird but I have SO much access to everything, no bending over or squishing myself into the stand plus I've been able to lengthen my skimmer neck which I couldn't have done.
Plus my electrical is away from the water which is good for me cuz I spill a lot. :rolleyes: :oops::upside-down-face:

120 gallons is a lot... I really want a tank like that though. How much upkeep would it be? I'm going to try to get a family member at my house to go pick it up... I mean it's free, so worse case I clean it and sell it for money.

yep free is good...upkeep is a little more glass to clean and more stuff to add per larger water volume but once you start increasing in gallons seems to not stop..lol....I started 140, now thats the sump for the 300...looking at 500ish maybe next year...

drilling glass takes alot of time and water.....you can not force the bit...basically just let the bit do the work with very very little presure.. the longer it take the better less chance to crack,... I never drill bottoms always near back top...I do not trust bottom drilled...

I'll probably just do what @00W Suggested and get an HOB overflow. Don't trust myself drilling glass.

sumps are easy to build... I build them out of old acrylic tanks or fabric from sheets of acrylic. I keep it simple, 3 chambers, 1st chamber the intake area with felt, 2nd chamber a big area for skimmers etc and chamber 3 the return pump and the UV loop pump. I have my UV loop pull water from chamber 3 and return it to chamber 3 so the return pump can send it to the tank with the other water in chamber 3. Also it adds as a safety feature, if you shut your sump down to feed the tank, my UV loop just keeps recirculating water from chamber 3 so that the UV never dries out...

yes love sumps not under the tank if the room or aka girl or wife whatever you have allows it. Next tank will have a sump not under it...500 or 600 gallon...

You could always just go with a hang on back sump and not drill it.

or take it to a glass shop and have them drill it for like 20 to 50 bucks,,,,and then you dont have to worry if the hang on the back over flows....
