Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Are you growing any algae? Maybe lighten your filtration media a bit and test after a little while. I believe that adding no3 in a newer setup can have a tendency to bottom out p04 as well, but with monitoring, that can be a solid option. I've not seen this but it makes sense scientifically. The old "feed more" adage is an option, but can present its own problems. Honestly Joel, ive only ever had problems LOWERING no3 in the past. Maybe your cuc is too good at their jobs!
Green algae and lots.
Probably 10000 baby snails of all kinds and 100 bristle worms, some 8 inches or more.
No filter media of any kind.
Only filtration is a reef octo 150 regal.
Think maybe I'll turn that off for awhile. :thinking-face:
System is 7 years old give or take....

Yes! My clownfish is always touching my other fish, specifically my wrasse.

Or, my tailspot blenny swims over a fish with a 4 inch poop hanging out. Yes. The other fish did get touched by it. And I've seen this happen a few times. LOL.

Sad Jim Carrey GIF
Laughed so hard at this!

My tang, my leopard wrasse and my fox face are almost always together. Do you guys have any fish that seem to buddy up with others?

My 2 clownfish lol, the oldest fish hang out on the left side of the tank, those are the royal gramma, the 2 clownfish and the tailspot, although now the tomini and the exquisite sleep there with them, but normally each one walks around in their own world lol

I went today and saw it but they have it like in a bag like this one, they don't have it in cubes

My Reef Frenzy comes like that, I just cut approximately half a cube of at a time.

If it makes you feel better, I started with live rock and “live “ sand and I got cyano but never got dinos but my phosphate has been.25 and nitrate 25 for ever.
I'll order some miceobactor7 and stay away from chemiclean and such. Just dumb :disappointed-face:

My mysis shrimp comes like that I have never been able to break or cut off a piece with a knife so I take a hammer to it and break it into little pieces.

they also dosed bacteria into every start up tank. you don't need to do that when starting with live ocean rock. I don't think it hurts but it is not needed. that's why you buy the live ocean stuff.
I did the microbactor tank cycle kit with the notrifying bacteria and and microbactor 7 on top of it. Just the uglies from a sterile tank. Hopefully this new rock helps!

Did you notify the notrifying bacteria before hand that you were going to do this? ;)

Wish i had a surplus snail situation haha. I gotta look into which snails reproduce well in our tanks
