Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Whats the general thought about a refugium and skimmer as opposed to filter socks and skimmer? And only use filter socks when stirring stuff up then remove when water clears up?
I run one big filter sock part time. It's pretty much clogged after a week. My bioload is still pretty light.
When I have enough dirty ones my wonderful wife runs them through the washing machine. I run a skimmer and have a little chaeto in the sump. I also have a DIY algae scrubber. Between it and rabbitfish my bubble algae invasion seems to be receding. I plan to add a 90 gallon refugium/species tank, but don't plan to grow much algae in it. It will principally be a home for a white spotted hermit crab, and a refuge for a population of pods.

Just curious, why are you anti bleaching? If I were to spak it afterwards and rinse thoroughly then let it dry out really good wouldnt it get rid of all the bleach?
Many bleach.
Many have great success with it.
Bleach, leave it in the sun.
That works just fine.
I've also seen it go the opposite way and have the bleach not fully be eradicated.
You're my friend and family and I just want things to be perfect.
I favor as natural as possible.
Not a lot of bleach in the ocean....

I'm gonna start relying on filter socks a lot less and focus on mostly my skimmer till it can't keep up, and I've that happens i think I'll add a refugium? I also might just add the refugium right off the bat lol undecided. Chaeto is easy enough to get

If i did bleach it, I would soak it in rodi, probably let it dry out, then cure it in fresh saltwater before i add it to my tank, but I also don't know, I have a big bucket outside in might just bring in and soak some in it for awhile!

Sounds good!

I don't understand, don't you use the filter socks and the skimmer at the same time?

Good night all. Although I have 3.5 hours of work left. However next week I start a new manager position on day shift.
Congratulations on the promotion!!

I gotta order some cuc anyway so might as well try them lol
I wish I could give you some stomatella snails. I saw one about when my tank was about 3 months old, now I'll see probably 30 to 40 when the lights go out. I guess the phrase, "breed like a stomatella", doesn't sound as cute as rabbits.

My tang, my leopard wrasse and my fox face are almost always together. Do you guys have any fish that seem to buddy up with others?
My fairy wrasse and tailspot blenny are best friends. The huddle up together and swim the tank. I've been trying to catch that on camera forever, it's crazy to see.
