I have never seen em this aggressive before! They usually just hang out and guard a little area, this time they are patrolling the tank actively looking to fight. It's wild

Are they breeding?

My advice is to take them to the lfs, wait until you have some bigger fish and add another pair of clownfish later, I had to do it.

Unfortunately I'm fairly attached.. these were my first fish I bought 8 years ago, gave them to my buddy for 5 years and got back. I'd almost just accept the fact that I can't have other fish :confused-face:

If i sumped my pair of clowns, is the general consensus that a single clown, without a mate would be less aggressive? Ever since i got back into maintaining my tank like I was supposed to they just spawn constantly

@tbrown has a pair of clownfish in the sump

Wow! Sorry to hear that Mike. My female clownfish is a holy terror. Every time I stick my hand in the tank, she nails me. I've started wearing those long, rubber dishwashing gloves and she has stopped. I also figured it was best if I wasn't just sticking my hand in the tank and risk contamination from something on my hand. I was sure to buy pink ones too!

My male was literally swimming 4ft to fight a fish if it got a line of sight on it! Just gone super hormonal or something I geuss

I think so, but once they realize that no one attacks back, that aggressiveness will not change.

I haven't done it personally, but its worth a shot especially if you are attached to the pair and don't want to part with them.

I have my sump in the basement so I thought about setting up a 20g and teeing off my return to give them their own private sump tank? Maybe give em an anenome eventually?

It's a standard 4ft 120g. I don't not have an anenome in it currently as I was worried about the wondering messing with corals

When they are breeding or have eggs, they will do that. I take mine out and spank 'em. Give it a shot and let me know how it goes. :face-with-tears-of-joy:

That'd be a good plan. An anemone tends to keep them in a smaller area and keeps them occupied.

Oh, I have no idea. My comment was my inner child voice again showing my immaturity. My wife would agree on me being immature at times! LOL
I should add it's probably not immaturity. I'm leaning more towards I don't have a filter and speak my mind.

The corals are inflated which is a good sign brother

I'm really glad to hear that. I just haven't experienced anything like this with my corals until now. I'm feeling positive about it brother, for sure.
