Ok I know we have some awesome cooks in here so give me your best easy healthy recipes meals or snacks either one.
Hummus was my best friend for about a year. I had apples and oranges for breakfast with the occasional oatmeal, then I had carrots and hummus plus more apples and oranges for lunch. Dinner was whatever my wife made (usually minus the breads) with fruits and vegetables. I lost around 80 pounds in about 6 months and my cholesterol was so low that my doctor told me to go eat a hamburger!

The thing about me though is that I can eat the same meal every day for years and not get tired of it. After a year of basically nothing but apples, oranges, and hummus I still live apples, oranges, and hummus!

To be perfectly honest, the secret to becoming healthier through food is a total reset of the mind and your eating habits.
Losing snacks is first on that list along with eating for comfort, or stress or anxiety as well, which all of us struggle with.
Thus the term comfort food.
Before I started the diet I'm on, my blood pressure and pulse were not bad but not anywhere where I wanted them.
Now, both are low and my cholesterol is non existent.
Doctors love to say salt is bad, your cholesterol is high when in fact they have been wrong about cholesterol for many years.
I really started by eating less and only eating when I was hungry, cutting out snacks and sugar
I LOVE LOVE LOVE chips and cookies.
Those were the hardest ones for me but after a while the cravings go away.
I'm not the food expert by any means but this was THE start for me to getting healthy.
I've had skin issues my entire life and they are completely gone now.
It's been a long road but a blessing.
Whatever you need, I'm here just ask.
I'll do my best.
You are absolutely right Joel. There's a lot of stuff that they were wrong about, come to find out. Like say, the food pyramid for starters

Me too Tim I can eat the same thing for a long time, every meal.
Good for you on the weight loss!
It does feel good!

I wish! I cant eat the same thing more than 2 days in a row... that said, i am not picky. I just ate the same cold cut and cheese sandwich for so long that now i just can't do the same thing over and over again

I wish! Would make grocery shopping way easier haha. I bought a fancy heated lunchbox so I can bring leftovers but my wife developed a skill where she never has leftovers, cooks just enough, and she's struggling to overcome that haha

I'm the same way more than two days of the same meal and I just can't unless it's something I really really like.

I try, I just absolutely lose my appetite. Then I end up going home and eating junk food instead lol

You must think of food as sustenance, fuel, not fun.
It's a lot easier for me since I cook hundreds of meals a day so food loses it's fun for me.

Im a fat guy trapped in a skinny body, that's becoming less skinny :grinning-face-with-sweat: once I hit 30 everything started sticking a little more and my metabolism slowed down quite a bit

Alright, correct me if I’m wrong but the hot topic tonight is diet? I have a natural Atkins diet, I’m not big on carbs, if I never had another pizza I would be fine. I have never liked sweets, no cake, pie, cookies, ice cream, chocolate, cupcakes, doughnuts or brownies. Give me protein and fat and I’m happy ( translation, bacon). I don’t eat any fruit, to sweet. I went through a few years of a crohns flare up and for the life of me I can’t put on weight. I really want to be 20 lbs heavier.

Never heard that but I'll try and research that.
Would be cool if true.
If true I’m sure it has it’s negatives aswell it definitely wouldn’t be a fix all solution

yeah, an actual dip. When the coral is closed it cant really feed since the polyps aren't out. Amino acids get diluted into the water so the coral when it's closed gets nothing, or maybe a tiny tiny amount. It's also not getting much energy from light, so really the coral has no food source. It takes energy for corals to extend its polyps, so if the coral has no energy, then it can't extend its polyps. I think this is the reason many people have their gonis slowly die and recede, they're just starving. Basically, the dip forces the coral to consume some aminos since it's so highly concentrated in the water. The reef roids probably don't get consumed, but maybe it raises po4 to high levels enough so that the coral can consume some. After all, po4 is necessary for life and its the most valued nutrient on planet earth. I did this to my goni that was sealed shut, and after just 2 hours the polyps came out. Not fully extended, but enough to see maybe a quarter inch of the "stalk". It's still improving as I type.

It's just something to try. Are you dosing any trace elements?
Great writing, thank you

That's the way to eat Kev!
Much healthier and it's very neat you don't eat sweets.
I think the way you are eating is a lot like the way people should eat.
We Americans are glutinous pigs who are very spoiled by food with a McDonald's or Taco Bell on every corner.
I think you look good, still handsome and you'll live longer with less weight your heart has to carry around and we can be friends a lot longer too!!
