What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
I need help!

Over the past couple days y’all know about my hammer is having some issues. Well, the hammer has completely died. I also lost two torches and one other little hammer now my big frog spawn that is looks so healthy for so long is dying as well. The frog spans flesh band is growing onto the frag plug and has 15 little baby heads coming in. What’s weird is it isn’t the flesh band receding. It’s dying from the inside out or from the inside of the mouth and then receding out. It’s been the same death for these corals. I’m really not sure what’s going on here. I just tested everything here the results.

Salinity- 1.026
Alk -9.1 usually 8 but seems a bit high
Mag - 1350
Cal - 378 seems a little low what do you think
Nitrate - 8.8
Ph - I tested 4 times - 2 times was 8.6 and 8.3 and 8.5

The pH might be a little higher because my alk has gone up a little bit?

What do y’all recommend doing?

The frogs spawn that is dying is still in the tank. Should I leave it in there? He has so many little baby heads do you think I could save them? Should I just siphon out the dead head?
Get some Cipro asap and you can treat the whole tank ( I’ve done twice no effects on anything. I get it here but perhaps your father can get it sooner.

Is this for bacteria infections?

Yes I used it for bjd successfully. It’s 500mg per 20g. I dissolve it in tank water, shut off the protein skimmer and remove the activated carbon. The sooner the better, if something is to far gone it’s to late but it prevents the existing ones from getting it.

is this the free vacation you won? looks amazing!
I took a trip to lake to sit on my kayak for a couple of hours. Beautiful day. Dropped to the low 80s and had a breeze.

I can try ordering. Could take a while to arrive. My dad said we might have some at the house but it’s for humans. Can I use that in the tank?

Ok so should I just toss the frog spawn and dead hammer with the 2 baby heads?
Should I dip the corals that look fine? There was a hammer that died right next to all of these guys.

And does this look like a
With all your euphyllia, like Kevin said an In Tank treatment would be a good way to go. The human stuff is the same. Could also do a preventative dip on the good looking heads. I assume you have some phosphate in the tank…Ive also seen them shrivel up at zero phosphate, but the trend seems more bacterial or viral, not sure which term is correct

Exactly the same thing! Yes you can use it, the sooner the better and follow my instructions above.

Well, to add to all of this heavy stuff, now that my water is clear, I can't find my cleaner shrimp. I think he passed while the water was really cloudy and then my serpent star ate him. 😪

Well, they haven't crashed. It's been a little over a week. Should I harvest?

I harvest mine every week or two. Mine are typically that bright when I cut them. Up to you on how dark and thick you want it.

So sorry Walker, if we can take any solace from that it's that the Serpent Star is going to be well fed for a while, though it's hard not to find at least the antennas.

I hope he shows up and surprises you.

Tim, I tagged you about Wes's case because it's the only one with solution, mine and Kevin isn't, short story, a trochus scratched the glass and I freaked out thinking it was a broken tank, Kevin lost his Royal Gramma, You were already here about Reefdevil and Walker situations

Yeah. I saw Parker's. I'm not a euphyllia expert so I have no help there unfortunately. It doesn't look like BJD but it doesn't look good.

Walker's is a sad situation. I've had shrimp hide for days and weeks and then pop up so hopefully it works out that way.
