Hi Tom!
It's really hard to tell.
As far as predation, I've got a coral beauty, yellow tang and picasso trigger.
Trigger sleeps all night and he'd be the only predator.
The tank was grossing me out so I changed 20 gallons, moved a few rocks around because they fell over, changed the bottom of the tank flow a bit.
I noticed a lot of debris floating on top which is really unusual for this tank due to extremely heavy surface agitation and flow.
Looks almost like dead aiptasia, like when I used to kill it manually.
Some of the rocks are really being hammered with flow and I've got a lot coming off/out of them.
Also noticed a few rocks with no aiptasia in spots, which is strange since every rock is literally covered.
I may not be seeing that much improvement yet since I have so many.
I also don't have any on the bottom acrylic, which I had tons before.
I think they are still in there I'm just being a baby and want them gone.

Interesting Joel. So maybe they're starting to gain ground. That tank is your baby and you're noticing something different when maybe no one else would. Sounds like you're headed in the right direction!

Was actually thinking of killing all flow just on one side for a bit, especially since surface jebao is literally covered in Aiptasia.
I'm still wondering if that isn't how they get transported around the tank, free ride through the water...

Can you turn down flow just at night Joel? The corals are closed up anways, and that's when your beghia want to munch!

@luis angel This may sound like a ridiculous question, but is it in the water? I kept trying to test mine BEFORE I put it in the tank. I got the same error message, then I put it in the water, turned it on and have never had a problem since. I agree with @tharbin. Try to manually free the prop

That is a good idea as long as the corals will be okay. Aiptasia aren't bothered very much by high flow so they tend to accumulate around pumps where there is a good supply of nutrients and little chance of predation or even competition.

If you decide to pull the gyre to clean it, remember that Aiptasia are extremely resilient organisms. Even a tiny piece of the pedal foot left behind will regrow a new Aiptasia. After I acid-clean a pump, I go over it and scrap off any bits of Aiptasia that I find, then I wipe it down with peroxide on a paper towel then I go over it again with a magnifier looking for any left over bits of Aiptasia and then let it sit and air dry for several days. Anything less than that and one of the buggers will regrow in my experience.

I remember a month ago I left a rock outside for a few days to kill them.
Went outside, rinsed it off, plopped it in.
No less than 2 days later most of them came right back.
Couldn't believe it.

This month's AZFRAG meeting will be a behind the scenes meet at OdySea. I haven't been there in a few years but I think it is a great experience, even if it is in the middle of a reservation in the middle of the Sonoran Desert.

I put it in constant mode for a while and then put it back on random and it hasn't done it again.

Okay I set the jebaos to the same schedule as the lights on the same timer since the Berghia are nocturnal.

do you think removing the jebaos and soaking them to kill the aiptasia then rinse and put back would be better? I think you said they were covered in aiptasia too? but yeah, when I had berghia I noticed that they stayed inside the rock for the most part. I think I only saw one like a month later at the sunset setting.

I had a rock dry for several years (7 or 8) and they came back less than a month into the tank...

Most definitely!
I haven't lived there in a long time but I'm still a member.
It's a wonderful place.
There is another aquarium in Phoenix that's my second favorite, but it is not right on the ocean like the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

I always like taking the kids to different aquariums. I went to a place in Grand Cayman and we actually got to hold sea turtles. Well worth it.

I'm doing that right now to 2 of them.
I have 4 total.
I just did the 2 small ones so they are aiptasia free for at least a couple of days.
Pulled the 2 big ones out.
I think I'll go in a rotation.
