I always wanted a koi pond. get the true Japanese Koi that are domesticated. they will eat right from your hand. Get a butterfly too. Stinks about the water in basement but good that it's easy cleanup. What I had done in the past is the first 3 feet in water run off areas I used heavy black mil then gravel on top to flow some water away. Basement has never been an issue though. get one of those water sensor alarms for washing machines and place it on the floor so you have the early warning. I use one behind the fish tank in where I would expect my leak.

Thanks Paul, I’ll look into that. It was an unprecedented amount of rain and the “pond” was where a drain was, as my neighbor said, I think the pipes taking water away from our houses were clogged. I haven’t seen any township trucks yet. My oldest son said he would make a koi pond for me with a nice water fall but I have this upgrade thing and the Mrs has a few things on a list that I need to have for her so my upgrade doesn’t get screwed up. For some reason her priorities are different than mine.
