My apologies for my absence everyone.
In September, my wife and I put the Cafe up for sale.
Our lease was coming due and neither one of us could physically, mentally or spiritually even think about doing it for another 5 years.
We had an interested couple, and, to keep it short, they bought it and took over December 1st.
It was months of negotiations and I'm still training in the kitchen trying to get them there without much luck.
It has been probably the most trying experience I've ever been through, emotionally draining since the Cafe is our baby. We started it with nothing.
Anyways, I'll try and get up to speed with y'all as much as I can.
I've accepted a new position as sous chef at a high end golf course slightly out of town so I'm working 4 doubles a week and it's wearing me out.
Love you all and miss y'all.
Just thought I'd let you know.

I temp acclimate in the bags then add them one at a time (I'm a horrible person, don't follow my example). I rarely dip unless the coral looks like it needs to be dipped and I rarely drip as dripping can cause more harm than good at times.

With that said, when I dip it's usually a 5 minute, no more. When I drip it's 30 minutes, no more.

If you drip, the temp acclimation should come after the drip as the temperature in the bucket will drop as you're dripping if you don't add a heater and circulation.

I agree with all of this. I.do dip lps and softies though. Never sps

Yeah I think I am just going to temp acclimate instead of drip but I do plan to dip still since I want to avoid pests at all cost. Seems like most people say with corals shipped its bad to drip. Its funny how there are so many people who live & die by doing one thing over another though. I guess the saying is true that there are always multiple ways to skin a cat.

Pithos crabs are preferred to Emerald - less likely to go rogue.

+1 and add a Foxface as well if possible. The Foxface LOVES bubbles that are floating around the tank and the Pithos are bubble connoisseurs.

Yeah I will never get another Emerald crab. My dude got a taste of the LPS goods. I had two in my tank & I had enough food for both as well but they do be crazy. One was fine, the other loved to pick at the flesh of my duncans.

I have three Pithos in my tank and all they touch is algae.

I can’t find any pithos anywhere here but I also don’t think they would do as good of a job at eating bubble .

ReefCleaners.com usually has them and I MUCH prefer them over Emeralds that are really just little marauders that wear bubble-eater masks to get into our tank.
