Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
My apologies for my absence everyone.
In September, my wife and I put the Cafe up for sale.
Our lease was coming due and neither one of us could physically, mentally or spiritually even think about doing it for another 5 years.
We had an interested couple, and, to keep it short, they bought it and took over December 1st.
It was months of negotiations and I'm still training in the kitchen trying to get them there without much luck.
It has been probably the most trying experience I've ever been through, emotionally draining since the Cafe is our baby. We started it with nothing.
Anyways, I'll try and get up to speed with y'all as much as I can.
I've accepted a new position as sous chef at a high end golf course slightly out of town so I'm working 4 doubles a week and it's wearing me out.
Love you all and miss y'all.
Just thought I'd let you know.
Carry on.
Peace ✌️
Joel, congratulations in your new venture. I think this is a good thing for you. it will relieve much stress from you. But know that you built a great cafe that someone else will enjoy running.

Thank you Paul 😊

I can’t find any pithos anywhere here but I also don’t think they would do as good of a job at eating bubble .
They like to bury themselves in the sand and tip stuff over. I had two and they were so dumb i mostly had to hand algae to them

Everything knocks over ........ well everything .

I didnt like them they stand on your corals in the sand. Cover there ugly self's in algae like a hairy hat. Then look at algae and starve to death unless you hand feed them sheets of algae which they love and go crazy for

They bury themselves during lit times, but mine at least, come out just before lights out and set to work all over the rock work. Mine don't seem to knock stuff over although I did have one very ticked of Trochus when one of the Pithos was holding it in place while it picked the bubbles off of its shell. Then again I don't have a lot of coral to knock over.

Good afternoon. I cant be expected to get up early like normal people. I stay up too late
last I heard you were Holden down the fort till way hours . No wonder your sleeping in late. I think you and Chris have the same problem . And Diana also but I think she gets 4 1/2 hrs of sleep 😴

Are you sure you had Pithos? Mine don't cover themselves at all they just bury in the sand during the day and they eat bubble and turf algae with glee. I had bad bubble algae problems and three of them keep my 100 gallon 98% free of bubble algae. The Foxface only picks at stuff that is easy to reach or that are floating in the tank.

Alright corals are placed. Today was a nightmare lol. First the shipment shows up at the last possible minute, they deliver it to the wrong address. There is visible water on the outside of the package and at least one of the corals bags were punctured although they were not fully dead, just very unhappy. I also had a lot of meetings today and calls despite my office being slow as molasses the last couple of days & weeks lol. Also have not ate or drank anything so I am going to get some food & a drink lol

The good news is I have the corals placed now and I am very happy how 90% of them turned out & I think the placements I made are exactly where I wanted them. I do hope everything lives and makes it.

Should I be lowering flow for the first day and then gradually increasing it or leave things like they normally are?

Sorry for asking so many questions, I am thinking/working on an empty stomach and just stressed out 🤣
