They call those 'pear burners' in Texas. But, it's a full on, flame thrower. I used mine when I lived there to start bonfires. It was easier than using a match and kindling!

He uses it for charring meats, but I laughed so hard when he first pulled it out, and it was this big flame thrower-looking thing.

The Display is 46.46" L × 17.88" W × 16.14" H for my new tank. I have the ability to buy 2x G5 Radion Blue XR15 Lightly used for around 250 each locally. I would verify the condition and how they work etc. Would it be better to go with brand new NICREW HyperReef 200 Gen 2 Reef LED Lights for 315 shipped (would need $50 controller as well)? I think the Nicrews would have better spread for the tank but it seems like both would work. I kind of like having the idea of higher par directly under the lights so I could have higher light items like SPS.

Curious what everyones thoughts are on that. I know Radions are top of the line but most like the XR30s for larger tanks.

This is what will be going over my new build. I use an xr15 right now and love it, but the new technology in the edge is very interesting.

Those will probably be very nice, I like the Primes but they're a little too point source and I really like the Blades. The edges are somewhere between the two. The only reason I removed the Blades was because I wanted an integrated solution when I changed out the Primes for the Meridian. I still have the Blades and I'm fighting with myself over selling them because I think they are really good lights but on the other hand I don't see any more 40"-48" tanks in my future.

The only reason I removed the Blades was because I wanted an integrated solution when I changed out the Primes for the Meridian. I still have the Blades and I'm fighting with myself over selling them because I think they are really good lights but on the other hand I don't see any more 40"-48" tanks in my future.

I also think the Meridian lighting system is amazing and some of the things theyre doing with uv are very interesting. Im looking at adding an AI blade to my current tank for fill light. It's only 21" wide though. Im not sure how small they make AI blades.

I think I remember they actually have a 21" model. The smallest is 12", then ( I think ) 21", then 30", then 39" (the ones I have and then 48" and maybe one or two more. I was very happy with my Blades and would use them again.

Great info Tom! I wish there was a way to integrate them into the rms mount for the xr15. I could probably sit it to the back of the tank under the arm where it doesn't impede the xr15. Id probably get the blue version and run it on a very low percentage.

You would get better spread/coverage with the Nicrew. Plus, they are higher power so that means more PAR. The Gen 2 also changed the lens so you don't get the hot spot directly under the light, it is more even. Plus... the 200 has three LED clusters... the XR only has one, albeit it is rectangular.

That's pretty accurate honestly. Being a meteorologist has to be a pretty easy job... you have a 50/50 chance of getting it right and people are ok with that.
