Well, I got a 5% water change done, cleaned the skimmer, made a liter of AFR, moved about two dozen more aiptasia from the display to the aiptasia farm, put five Berghia egg spirals into a separate container for some tests I want to do, set up a rock bucket where I'm going to put three or four of the adult Bergia and a aiptasia infected rock for them to work on, after I let it sit for a while and check it for bristleworms and amphipods. Oh and I ground a bunch of the PETG off the nozzle of the printer with my dremel and a cutting bit, and ordered the micro torch, paid a bunch of bills; Hey, maybe I should get off of R2R once in a while for an hour or so!

I too di a water change, skimmer cleaning, sock change and wash cycle, new chemi pure blue, sanded down a mast, boom and yard to prep for varnish, played with PETG and plugged it all up and had to take the whole thing apart. been working on that for 4 hours. Apparently I had some bad filament that broke off in the tube. after pulling it out, it was brittle in some parts and others pliable and checked and so was the whole roll. I removed the extruder and it was clear, tried heating up the nozzle a bunch of times to ooze it out. then the x axis kept hitting the side and erroring out again. but I have a PLA easy print going now finally and trying to clear it all out. The unit had an update too right before I went to use it so could have been that as well. Keeps saying slicer is now unavailable. Shouldn't have loaded the new update. And it's my kids printer so I had to make sure it runs again smoothly so I don't get blamed. Need to put the nozzle and extruder cover back on once it's finished though. was so close to replacing the ceramic heating block with nozzle.

I generally and normally do not like defending @tbrown but am going to make an exception here. If I were him, I would come back with, "Oh, is that right, Paul? That's about what I would expect from a guy who has no elegance." (Too soon?)

So I got to be honest I am rather disappointed with how my Top Lid arrived for my IM 25 Lagoon. First the location of the auto feeder was way different than where it was on the picture which means when trying to install the plank it can't go in that location as it would be where my wavemakers is.... I think I found a temporary solution but if the pictures don't line up with the result that's kind of lame... Also its very flimsy compared to my kraken lid. It is much better looking but practicality trumps looks...

Good job getting it running again. If I remember correctly you've only had the printer a few months so the filament shouldn't be old. Usually when PLA or PETG start to snap when flexed they are either old and should be discarded or, possibly, too wet. Do you have a filament drier?

Good job getting it running again. If I remember correctly you've only had the printer a few months so the filament shouldn't be old. Usually when PLA or PETG start to snap when flexed they are either old and should be discarded or, possibly, too wet. Do you have a filament drier?

I don't have one. I suggested it but she said "the spaghetti is not from humidity, it's a bad slice". but we don't have much humidity right now in the house. I didn't look at the package to see a manufacturing date but I just got these in the mail Friday. son unless it was old stock? I actually would like to get another CFS if I see them on sale one day.

The brittle filament will be a continuing problem. Some filaments are naturally brittle but PLA and PETG should be flexible. The only ways I know to get passed it without continuous issues is to try redrying the filament or throwing it away. That said, if the filament has been in the printer for a long time without being used, you can try to cut a few feet off and see if there are still brittle spots. Don't use brittle PLA or PETG it is cheaper and much less frustrating to just toss it.

--caveat-- If it is an infused filament like wood or metallic, they are often brittle so you just need to be careful and try to not over flex the feed tube.

Our wastewater plant receives Gatorade, Fry's/Kroger, and a meat packing plant's waste water. I'm dreading summer, let's just say that. I'm clean water but our office is at the water water plant.

Sounds like the filament has either absorbed too much moisture or is too dry.

I have a white PLA that is fairly brittle when it's humid. I changed the dessicant and it became pliable again.

Yup we had our own waste water processing because of the sheer size of our meat production facility. (We processed live to packaged) So it smelled delightful and doubly worse in the heat of summer. .

We were a 0 waste facility on top of that so nothing is thrown away.... Everything gets processed, you can use your imagination.
