It's just odd when you've spent so much time in the hobby to find out many years later it's a food source for some 😅
Some probably feel the same way about us naming them lol. I still have trouble wrapping my head around "pet shrimp"

Do any of you bake your own sourdough loaves? I made my own starter 10 days ago and I'm hoping I can get some dough made today and baked tomorrow. I have no idea what I'm doing lol, but it seems really fun.

I’ve been consuming Tang since I was a we lad in the highlands of Of Scotland.
Lies. All lies. Everyone knows the wee lads in Scotland drink the only thing they're allowed to drink; scotch whiskey.

Lol yes I have. It's pretty interesting stuff actually! I remember when lionfish fish became invasive in the Gulf, you would hear of people eating them. Then they started showing up in a few of the local restaurants. At the time I had a lionfish tank, so there was a bit of a moral dilemma for me.

Then I finally tried some and it was amazing. Morals went right out the door lol
I raised chicken and quail... I hunted quail and got chicken at the store.

Morals are funny things, aren't they? People don't eat horses here in the US because it's "wrong". Same with Llamas and Alpacas. But in other countries, they're livestock.

Cats and dogs is just odd... We don't typically eat carnivores when it comes to mammals but pigs will eat anything, including meat. Also, fish - the majority of the fish we eat are either predatory meat eaters or they're vacuum cleaners that eat garbage including anything dead they can fit in their mouths (including people...).

When it comes to food, we're ruled more by our eyes than actual taste buds.

Good morning Tim! <tips hat> I tried a french press coffee this morning. There was a vendor here at the VA who was selling coffee. I guess he buys beans and then adds his own flavor... not sure. Any how... that french press was pretty good. I watched him make it, it was pretty interesting.
I've got two French Press coffee makers. I do enjoy a nice French press coffee. You can let it brew a little longer to soak every last drop of oil out of the beans.

Adding "flavor" is as simple as using food grade essential oils or mixing different beans from different locations to get more of the different flavor profiles.

I've never added any oil to beans when I was roasting mine but I've definitely experimented with different coffee farms for different flavors. My personal choice was Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. Get the beans green, roasted them to just passed second crack and wait for a good sheen of oil and then remove for cooling and off gassing.

A nice "blend" is Kona Black and Tan which is a blonde roast and a french roast in a single bag. You get the freshness of a light roast and the boldness of an extra dark roast in a single cup.

I've heard that cougar is good, but it is one game animal where the state allows you to waste the meat

Very well written Mr Brown.

I found myself nodding in agreement to the entire post.
