Does it matter which compartment I have a protein skimmer in my sump?
You want it after your primary mechanical filtration (socks/floss/etc.) and before any live/fuge sections. Usually the second compartment but if you don't have a fuge or other organism haven, like a cryptic area, it just needs to be before the return section.

Make that extra large.

A few years ago, when I was much younger and a little less wise, there was a really good pizza place. Right next door was a Weight Watchers. WW had meetings or classes or something on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. Every Wednesday I would order an extra large sausage, mushroom, onion pizza and a medium triple cheese pizza for pick-up just before 7pm. Made a lot of folks a little crazy. I have repented often, but I sure miss that pizza shop.

I have copepods and a bunch of rock in the 2nd chamber so I will keep it in the first chamber with the uv sterilizer and the filter cups. I only have the three chambers.

Just picked up my cleaner wrasse and the air valves to see if I can get my skimmer to run right. Pictures will come when I get home and get him acclimated.
Excellent. Now if I was a wise guy like @tbrown or @That Crusso Kid or, even worse, @kevgib67 I'd ask why you needed a cleaner wrasse for your protein skimmer, maybe stuff it in the air inlet to reduce the flow?

But, I'm better than that. Congratulations on the new acquisition and I hope you get your skimmer dialed in.

It took me a few but here is something that could use to be useful for some and confusing for others.

That is, unfortunately, very useful. I could use that to do a much better job controlling the over/under utilization of my citric acid. That said, the day I sit there and measure out 9,173 ml of RODI is the day I change hobbies.

I'm more the, take bucket big enough to cover the part(s) to be cleaned, fill with tap water until said parts are submerged, add citric acid until I see junk falling off the parts or at least some bubbling.
