What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
There are some wonderful people on this forum, and in this world!

My wife and I just received a box from Shelley @code4, absolutely overflowing with freshly dug irises of every color you could imagine!

Each one was thoughtfully labeled by color and variety. When she said she was sending them, I offered to pay her for them and all she asked was that we pay it forward. That's probably a good thing because my wife said, "do you know how much that would've cost me if I'd bought them retail?"

Thank you so much! I will make sure to pay it forward.

now you need to post pics of them flowering next year.

that sucks Kev. I think they are just a hard species. my lfs said they usually lose their slime coat and believe it's due to gassing them at capture.
Mine acclimated very well, but I think the main reason was that it had a prey food in abundance when I first got it in tons of small feather duster worms which it decimated. Gave it the 10 or so days it needed to start eating frozen. I’m in a similar train of thought-without live food to tide it over I doubt I’d try one again even with the right size tank .

That’s really nice of Shelley ! 🤩

I’m home kids! Discovered my CBB dead 😢 . I thought getting it pre-quarantined and feeding it what it had been eating for 6 weeks would give me a great chance of success but I hadn’t seen it eat in 10 days. Not sure if I’ll pull the trigger again. She looked so beautiful in my tank.
Your copperband butterfly died . I thought it was doing fine . Sorry Kevin !

Just went through the exact same thing a week ago with a CBB. 2nd one. Beautiful fish.

You always have it worst then most people but I will say what is your humidity Tim ?
I'm lived both in Florida (Miami and Orlando) and in AZ (Scottsdale). After 110 in AZ, it feels like you're cooking, but I wouldn't trade Phoenix for Orlando weather. The air in most of a Florida feels so thick due to the humidity when the temps get up there. Phoenix feels like a blow dryer if it's windy.

Good deal ! Today my car read 99 degrees but we always have a breeze , in Orlando we have no breeze . Too much pavement.
Spot on. I know as I lived in Orlando (just north of in Longwood) for 7 years.

I am so sorry to hear this Kevin. I know you tried your very best to do everything right.

Unfortunately Butterflies can get collected with cyanide still today. I've heard of them dying even 3-6 months after collection.
