Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Hey 00W, love how the tank has evolved over the years with the softies and that orange growth filling in.

Since you run bare bottom with a trigger and keep phosphates at zero while dialing nitrates down through water changes, how stable have the soft corals and LTA stayed long-term with those low nutrients? Any tricks you found for keeping the trigger from nipping new additions once they settle in?
I did want to thank you for your interest and asking questions.
To add to what I said, most of what I do is instinct and patience.
If I experiment with something, I do things one at a time so I know what works and what doesn't.
I still reef today as I did in the 80’s, Berlin method with tons of live rock and a very large skimmer.
I have found the less I mess with the tank the better it gets although I feed incredibly heavy and it can get a bit nasty in there.
I religiously did water changes every Monday for years and years but have since cut that back to once a month.
With the addition of the 2 butterflies, there is almost nothing left after feeding. They are the most incredible scavengers I've ever seen and will eat absolutely everything.
I do feed my trigger heavily including people food and the butterflies are happy to eat that too.
Like I said, welcome to the Smorgasbord and happy reefing.
Any more questions, ask away.
This is the greatest bunch of reefers you'll find in one place anywhere.
Period.

Well, going on 5 weeks without any answers I got a call. My test had for the lettuce parasite ( they said they tested in the hospital but sent out the wrong test)) came back positive. Picking up Bactria at the pharmacy on the way home. Not physically feeling better but mentally feeling better knowing what it is and there’s a treatment.

I've been struggling with my freshwater tank for I don't know how long.
Something is fundamentally wrong, whether it's the gravel, the fact the tank is over 30 years old....
Don't know but these poor fish just keep hanging on.
It's not that I haven't tried, lord knows I have so I decided they deserve a new home so I went all new with my favorite stuff, no carryover from the old tank.
New tank, tidal 35,eheim heater, new sand and substrate, kessil lighting.
Going to have to get another job now but we'll see how it goes 🙃.
I'll keep y'all posted.
Discus and rummy noses !

Not sure which way I'm going job wise today, sometimes feel like I'm on the marrygoround of life, my goodness 😳...
Put in my notice at the club and they freaked out.
Had a meeting with the GM today and that went well but need to decide....
Money vs health is a hard one but maybe we can work something out we're all happy with...
Keep ya posted...
If you can afford it I’d go with health .

That's great to hear Kev, not the parasite part, the answer part.
