looks amazing! i myself am trying to get inline with my water chemistry. recent ICP tests showed elevated metals, so hopefully letting GFO/poly filter run its course and doing another ICP will ease my anxieties.

just delved into the reef moonshiners method, so hopefully i notice some good growth/coloration that i haven't had the opportunity to have with my current dosing/maintenance..

edit: i'll be 1 year no WC/tank running on feb 26!
Congratulations. I’ve just heard about the Moonshine method and am interested in attempting it once I’ve invested in a ATO. As it stands, I’m adding 1/2 to 1 gallon of r/o, in one shot, once a day. My salinity can swing by as much as a point in 24 hours (55 gallon).

@revhtree now I’m so very curious about what exactly is your current alk lc. I’m curious as to what exactly is going on equilibrium wise that all those large corals have been able to maintain on your steady dosing. How much and what 2 part? I

I don’t really test and do I infrequent water changes. I have a mixed tank with fair amount of acro too but I still have to do cleaning every 3 months or so.

I recently started removing a bunch of SPS and LPS as I want to move to a set up without really any maintenance. I have been purchasing more soft corals and such.

Like you said.. I just want an easy stress free tank. My priorities have shifted to my newborn and I don’t want I be one who gets out of the hobby but instead make the hobby work for my lifestyle!

I love seeing tanks like this as to know it is possible.

No carbon, no filters of any kind.
Well pretty cool that it’s working for you. I’m going to stick with my 10% program. Always worked for me in the past.

too much risk or me.

Nice to see you found some kind of balance, which make reefkeeping all about fun.
I believe ommiting waterchanges is the way wel will go about in the future.
I have been doing this since 2004 and in 2012 i leveled up my skills.

It will take time before the mayority adopt this habit, but eventually they will be learn and be inspired to slowly abandon those annoying and spillfull waterchanges.

There are many ways to ommit waterchanges, some fit the reefers better than others. The key is to find the way that meet your needs.

All my tanks (and i have a few) are without waterchanges from day one. Some have gone 17 years without those changes untill the were disassembled, resealed and reused.

What fish did you stock this tank with?
