100 mm macro question

i just got the 100 mm off Amazon (from Adorama, but through amazon) for 444.95 shipped. also picked up a tiffen uv filter, to protect the lens from scratches and debris for 11 or 12 (had to pay 6 just to have the filter shipped - go figure 445 vs 12, and i pay shipping on the 12 bucks)

i'm returning my tamron, due to a defect in workmanship (or as poseidon puts it, a boulder, was it? ) :snicker:, but it was an awesome lens. i don't think both are on sale much longer, though. the 31st, maybe?
